Drone roof surveys in Ware

How a drone roof survey works in Ware

We carry out drone roof surveys in Ware and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. If you’ve noticed gaps where slates or tiles have gone and outlets choked with leaves and silt, we can find out what’s behind it, on fragile roofs, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs alike.

In a village or hamlet like Ware, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

How it works

Every visit follows the same pattern: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. Most visits take about one to two hours at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. Older rural homes like those around Ware can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Ware

Ware is within about 5 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Around Ware, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in. Goodnestone Park lies about 4.3 miles south-west, so building around Ware goes back a long way. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Ware is about 6 miles south-west of St Lawrence, in Kent. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Ware can all book drone roof surveys. Ware is one of the places in Kent we cover. There is also a page for Canterbury.

Why act early in Ware

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. Older cottages and farmhouses around Ware can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Tips from our surveys

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Check there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property

The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photographs and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.

Keep the roof space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Check insulation does not block the airflow.

FAQs for Ware

Do you cover smaller places like Ware?

Yes. Ware is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

How do I find out if my home in Ware is listed?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.

Do I need to be at home?

That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in.

Will you walk on the roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies.

Is your drone operator registered?

Yes, we are. The CAA has issued us a Flyer ID and an Operator ID, and the drone itself is under 250g.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.

DIY checks: what’s safe

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Ware

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait.

Honest limits

It is useful to know what a survey won’t do before you book:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
