Useful tips for Wildmoor property owners
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photos and findings. It is a chance to ask about anything in the report.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.
About our drone roof survey in Wildmoor
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it is worth letting them know about the visit. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we are there to survey. We survey chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof.
Some older homes in villages like Wildmoor are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
It isn’t only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

Drones, thermal imaging and Wildmoor roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.
Anyone responsible for a site like The Loddon School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Festival Place, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. With The Vyne about 3 miles west, the area around Wildmoor has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself.
Wildmoor is about 4 miles north-east of Basingstoke, in Hampshire. We carry out drone roof surveys in Wildmoor for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings. Across Hampshire, we cover Wildmoor and the places around it. Reading is in our area too.

What we look for on each type of roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
What a drone roof survey does not cover
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Why get it checked now?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect, which helps when you ask for quotes. For an older or listed building in a place like Wildmoor, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
To find out what your survey will cost, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and some details. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Why us?

What happens on the day
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. In a hamlet or village like Wildmoor, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Tell us about parking before the day
How to book
Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can call 07833 053749 or send us an email to find out.

Wildmoor questions
Is drone flying allowed in Wildmoor?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is Wildmoor within the area you cover?
Yes, Wildmoor is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
How long is the visit?
Most surveys take an hour or two at most homes, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. The report follows by email.
Will you check the loft?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, so it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
What’s in the survey report?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
