Oakridge Electronic Leak Detection
We take a careful look at the flat roof membrane at your property in Oakridge, with photos and a written report.
- Leaks that return after repairs
- Breaches around outlets and penetrations
- Leaks through a covered membrane
What affects the cost of electronic leak detection
We confirm the price for your roof before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- The size of the roof
All our prices include VAT. We quote electronic leak detection for each roof, as the method and time depend on the roof. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.
Booking your survey
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- What made you get in touch
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- The kind of building and roof involved
We confirm the price for the job before you book, so you know where you stand. Electronic leak detection is quoted for your roof, because the method depends on the roof. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Electronic leak detection in Oakridge
Electronic leak detection works on many flat roof membranes over offices, units, blocks of flats and homes. It helps trace a leak you already have or to test a new membrane before it is covered. Each roof is quoted on its size and build-up. Testing can be carried out on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays when conditions allow. Just ask about your roof. We survey flat roof membranes, roof terraces and balconies and commercial flat roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are leaking laps in the waterproofing and waterproofing to test before it’s covered.
Around a smaller place like Oakridge, flat roofs typically cover extensions, garages and dormers. Even a small flat roof can let lots of water into the room below. What it is covered in, and how well it was laid, decides what it needs, from felt and asphalt to EPDM rubber and GRP. Ponding, splits and lifting edges are the signs to look for from a window.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What electronic leak detection does not cover
It is a careful look at the flat roof membrane, not the whole story. The main limits are:
- Fixing the holes we find
- Some conductive membranes
- Parts of the roof covered by fixed equipment
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will recommend the right survey before booking. The full list of what we check.

What electronic leak detection looks like in Oakridge
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Next to the main roofs there is usually a flat roof somewhere, whether on an extension, a garage or a commercial unit. About 2.6 miles north lies The Vyne, a reminder of how long the area around Oakridge has been built on. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Ruins Of Chapel Of The Holy Trinity, flat-roofed rear additions and dormers added over the years are worth checking. For businesses in and around places like The Malls, the flat roofs over shops and commercial units are worth checking before a leak, not after. Landlords with a home close to Basingstoke station may find that flat roofs on let property tend to be checked only when they fail, which is the costly way round.
Oakridge is about 1 mile north-east of Basingstoke, in Hampshire. We carry out electronic leak detection for homes and businesses in Oakridge and nearby. Oakridge is one of the places in Hampshire where we work for electronic leak detection. We also survey roofs in Reading.
Every address in RG21 and RG24 is within our area for electronic leak detection, from the main roads to the quietest streets. You’ll find streets such as New Road, Vyne Road and Goat Lane, and we cover them all. With the A3010 close by, Oakridge is easy for us to reach for electronic leak detection. We also cover the places around Oakridge: Eastrop (1 mile south-east), Popley (1 mile north), Viables (1 mile south), Lychpit (2 miles east) and Old Basing (2 miles east). We also work in nearby towns such as Farnborough (14 miles east), Fleet (11 miles east), Aldershot (14 miles east), Alton (10 miles south-east), Yateley (12 miles north-east) and Tadley (6 miles north).

Leave it or get it looked at?
Not every leak is in the membrane. ELD helps rule the membrane in or out, so other causes can be checked. Arranging work in a smaller place like Oakridge is easier with notice than in an emergency. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.

Common questions in Oakridge
Is my home in Oakridge listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you cover Oakridge?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
Can you survey in bad weather?
It depends on the weather and the survey. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.
How does ELD work?
A sound membrane blocks the test current, so wherever there is a hole, it passes through. That lets us find breaches that are too small to see.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

How it works
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take as long as needed for the membrane area and the build-up, which we’ll explain when we quote. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Oakridge, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.
- First, you let us know about the roof build-up and where water is showing.
- The roof is assessed to see if electronic testing will work on it.
- The testing method is chosen to suit the membrane and build-up.
- The roof is tested and any breaches are located.
- We send a report with photos of each breach so your roofer can repair it.
Before the survey
- Keep pets in another room
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Tell us where we can park nearby

DIY checks: what’s safe
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight.
How the survey changes by roof type
Green and ballasted roofs
Roofs with planting or ballast hide the membrane. Testing may still be possible, depending on the build-up.
Bituminous membranes
Older felt roofs often have seams and patches where breaches occur. We test where the roof suits it.
