Aluminium and other metal gutters
Aluminium and other metal gutters are used on many newer and commercial buildings. Joints, outlets and fixings are the parts we focus on.
How a gutter survey works in Lower Titmore Green
Your gutters take the rain from the roof and lead it away from the walls. If they clog, drip or sag, the water ends up somewhere it shouldn’t and that typically means the walls or the inside of the building. Our survey looks at the whole rainwater system above ground, from eaves gutters and valleys to outlets, hoppers and downpipes. You get a report with photos. Typical surveys look at rotten fascias or stained soffits and cracked or loose downpipes, on eaves gutters, valley gutters and fascias and soffits.
Older buildings in small places like Lower Titmore Green may be listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. A roof report helps you plan work with that in mind. Older materials such as clay tiles, slate and stone are frequently matched when work is done.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Why act early in Lower Titmore Green
Climbing a ladder to look in the gutters yourself is risky. From the ground you can spot drips and overflows but hidden gutters are another matter. Our survey covers whatever is safely visible and records it with photos. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £150, including VAT.

Questions from Lower Titmore Green
Is my home in Lower Titmore Green listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Stevenage station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and what you need.
Could my damp wall be caused by the gutters?
The survey looks at whether rainwater is spilling onto the wall, through overflows, drips or damaged downpipes. We can’t see inside the wall itself, so we report on what’s visible.
What’s in the report?
Written findings with photographs, covering the condition of the gutter, the defects we found and what we recommend. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
What’s the price of a gutter survey?
The Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard from £250 and the Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. Just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email for a price.
How many surveys have you done?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
What happens on the day
You do not need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, and longer where there are parapet, valley or box gutters to follow. In a small place like Lower Titmore Green, access is normally the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First, you let us know what you’ve seen, such as overflows or damp.
- We look along the gutters, downpipes and fascias from ground level and from windows.
- Valley, parapet and box gutters are inspected as far as they can safely be seen.
- We look in the roof space, where there is safe access, for signs of water getting in.
- We send a written report with photos and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Jot down any questions you want answered

Local roofs in Lower Titmore Green
In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters. Historic houses such as Knebworth House, about 3.5 miles south, show how far back building in the area around Lower Titmore Green goes. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary the Virgin, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first. Anyone responsible for a site like Wymondley Junior Mixed and Infant School will know that long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.
