Landlord roof survey in Egypt, Slough
Landlord roof surveys across Egypt, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. You get a clear report with photographs.
- Choked outlets and gutters
- Cracked or leaning shared chimneys
- Leaking joints at party walls
What we are asked to look at in Egypt
Shared roofs can fall between owners. Everyone may think someone else is responsible and work gets delayed. An independent report helps everyone see the facts.
Look out for signs like these:
- Chimney stacks in poor repair
- Leaks into upper flats
- Blocked gutters over flats
- Cracked or lifting flashings
If you look after a building such as Farnham Common Infant School, its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale.
Before booking any roof surveyor

Landlord roof surveys for homes and businesses in Egypt
The lease normally decides who is responsible for the roof and who pays. We do not give legal advice on leases but we can give you an independent record of the roof’s condition. That can help when owners, freeholders and agents need to agree what happens next. The report sets out what we saw, with photographs and recommendations. We survey converted houses, blocks of flats and shared roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are cracked or lifting flashings and worn ridges, hips and verges.
Village roofs often face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A written report sets out what to deal with and in what order. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are frequently where weather gets in first.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What we look for on each type of roof
Party-wall upstands and parapets
A parapet can hide a gutter that’s hard to see. We inspect them as far as it’s safe to see.
Roof spaces and lofts
Looking inside the roof often tells us more. We check it where there is safe access looking for water marks and gaps.
Your questions about landlord roof surveys in Egypt
I let a flat near Burnham station. Can you check the roof?
Of course. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.
How do I find out if my home in Egypt is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Yes, where it’s applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
How do I arrange a landlord roof survey in Egypt?
The quickest way is to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on any day of the week.
Are you insured?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Do you look in the roof space?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, such as damp timbers, staining or daylight.
Is the report suitable for a maintenance plan?
Yes. Recommendations are prioritised by urgency where relevant so you can plan spending. It doesn’t include repair cost estimates, but contractors can price from it.
Landlord and commercial surveys in Egypt
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photographs included.
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
What a landlord roof survey does not cover
A survey is a careful look at the let or shared roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:
- Who pays under the lease (that is a legal question)
- Asbestos testing of roof sheets or soffits
- The structure in the way a structural engineer would assess it
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.
What we check
- Flat roofs on blocks
- Blocks of flats
- Shared roofs
- Rented houses
- Converted houses
- Gutters and downpipes
Egypt homes and their roofs
In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Whatever the covering, it is often the fixings, flashings, valleys and gutters that give out first. About 3 miles west lies Cliveden, a reminder of how long the area around Egypt has been built on. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If you own a rental within reach of Burnham station, a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak. Take an older house close to St John the Evangelist: old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs.
Egypt is about 3 miles north of Slough, in Slough. We cover Egypt and the rest of Slough, as part of our work across London and the South East. Egypt is one of the towns and villages in Slough where we work for landlord roof surveys. Reading is in our area too.
Landlord roof surveys in SL2 are booked the same way as anywhere else. Near you in Egypt
Typical jobs here are in homes near Beechwood School, The Royal Oak pub and Caldicott School. The nearest railway station is Burnham station, about 2.9 miles south-west of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Wexham Park Hospital (2.7 miles south-east). Not far away are Burnham Beeches and Taplow Lake.
Checking the roof from ground level
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
How the survey works
We’ll ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes about one to two hours for a house, and longer for a block or a building with several roofs. Older rural homes like those around Egypt can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- First, we confirm the roofs and areas to be surveyed.
- We confirm which flats and loft spaces we need to get into, and you arrange access.
- The roofs are inspected from the ground, vantage points, the roof space and the roof where it is safe.
- Defects are photographed and their urgency noted.
- We send a written report you can use to plan maintenance and budgets.
Getting ready for the survey
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Find any records of previous roof work
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
