Bledlow Ridge questions
Do you cover smaller places like Bledlow Ridge?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
Do you cover Bledlow Ridge?
Yes, Bledlow Ridge is one of the places we work. The survey and report are the same in Bledlow Ridge as anywhere else.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in if we’re looking inside or in the loft. We’ll talk about access when you book.
Can you inspect the roof on a new-build home?
Yes, new-build roofs are checked in the same way as replacement roofs. You get a photo report of any snags for you to pass to your builder.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect what can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
What insurance do you have?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
About our new roof snagging in Bledlow Ridge
Our inspection covers the slates or tiles, ridges, verges, hips and valleys plus flashings and roof ventilation. We check the underlay at the eaves where it’s visible, and we check the gutters too. The report sets out what we found with photographs. We also note debris left behind and any damage to other parts of the building. Typical surveys look at verge tiles or slates not secured and debris left in gutters or valleys, across loft conversions and dormers, new flat roofs and ridges and verges.
Some older homes in villages like Bledlow Ridge are listed or sit in a conservation area. That can affect what materials a new roof may use, so check with the council and Historic England’s list. For a buyer or someone with a newly finished roof, it’s worth knowing which applies, as well as what condition the roof is in. England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings.
After the visit, you get a written report with photos, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the new roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

Local roofs and buyers in Bledlow Ridge
A number of Buckinghamshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Each material has its own typical faults, which is what a buyer or the owner of a new roof needs to know about. West Wycombe Park House, about 2.9 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Bledlow Ridge. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
For landlords with property near Saunderton station, a written report helps before buying a rental or paying for a new roof on one.
Bledlow Ridge is about 5 miles north-west of High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire. Bledlow Ridge gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photos and a written report. Our area takes in places right across Buckinghamshire. You can also see our page for Reading.

The survey, step by step
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the new roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It normally takes about 1–2 hours at most homes, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like Bledlow Ridge, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You tell us what work was done and when.
- The new coverings and roof edges are inspected as far as can safely be seen.
- We look at valleys, flashings, gutters and the underlay at the eaves.
- The loft space and the rest of the property are checked for problems.
- Snags are listed in a written report with photos.
Before the survey
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Tips from our surveys
Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:
- Look for new stains after a downpour
- Watch for gutters overflowing in rain
- Keep the contract and invoices together
- Book snagging before the final payment
Keep the report with any warranty papers from your roofer. It records the roof’s condition at that point.
Tell your roofer at the start that the work will be inspected. Everyone then knows what to expect and leaves time for snags to be fixed.

What new roof snagging does not cover
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- Deciding who is at fault in a disagreement
- Estimates of what fixes will cost
- Fixings and underlay hidden under the coverings
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.
Roofs we survey in Bledlow Ridge
- New flat roofs
- Loft conversions and dormers
- Flashings and valleys
- New-build homes
- Replacement roofs
- Ridges and verges
Do you need new roof snagging in Bledlow Ridge?
Vents can be left out, or insulation pushed against the eaves. Poor ventilation can lead to condensation in the loft.
We are frequently asked to look at:
- Loose flashings at walls or chimneys
- Loose or badly finished ridge tiles
- Debris left in gutters or valleys
- Broken coverings left on a new roof
If you live in an older home near Church of St Paul, the roof may have had decades of patch repairs, and the survey shows where they are.

How we price new roof snagging
To price your survey, we look at:
- How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
Our price is from £150, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and which survey you book.
What to tell us when you get in touch
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- What made you get in touch
Getting a price is simple: just call 07833 053749 or email us and give us a few details about the property and we will explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
It is useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.
