Why get it checked now?

Phone photos from the garden can’t show much. We get as close a view as safe access allows, including by drone where it’s applicable. With lower homes, common in places like Durrington, there is little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Finding the cause first saves a second job inside.

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

New roof snagging for homes and businesses in Durrington

We carry out new roof snagging in Durrington and across London and the South East. Time on site typically takes an hour or two for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. We inspect as far as it’s safe to see including by drone where applicable. You then get a written report with photos. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. We survey ridges and verges, loft conversions and dormers and flashings and valleys, and common reasons people get in touch are gutters or fascias damaged during the job and underlay at the eaves left exposed.

Bungalows, chalet bungalows and older cottages are common in smaller places like Durrington, many of them extended or given dormers over the years. Even on a low roof, dormers, valleys and flat-roofed additions need a careful look. That applies whether you’re buying in Durrington or checking a new roof there. Lead around a dormer and the edges of a flat roof are common places for snags and wear alike.

The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Checking the roof from the ground

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Durrington

Landlords, agents and building managers in Durrington and across West Sussex can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

When you need someone else

Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:

  • Parts of the roof we can’t see safely
  • How the roof will perform for years to come
  • Repair costs for putting snags right

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you before you book. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • New-build homes
  • New flat roofs
  • Replacement roofs
  • Ridges and verges
  • Loft conversions and dormers
  • Flashings and valleys

How it works

Every visit follows the same pattern: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how much new work there is to check. For a survey in Durrington, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. If there are outbuildings or garages you want looked at, mention them.

  1. We start with what the roofer did and when they finished.
  2. We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
  3. Valleys, flashings, gutters and visible underlay at the eaves are checked.
  4. The loft space and the rest of the property are checked for problems.
  5. Snags are listed in a written report with photos.

How to prepare

Ridges, hips and verges

Ridges, hips and verges take the most weather. Bedding, dry-fix pieces and fixings are looked at where visible.

Valleys

Lead or other valley linings should be laid and lapped neatly as far as safe access allows.

FAQs for Durrington

Will you come out to Durrington?

Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is the coastal weather around Durrington hard on roofs?

It can do. Durrington is within about 3 miles of the sea, and coastal roofs tend to see faster wear on metal parts and more wind lifting loose pieces.

Can you see the fixings under the tiles?

No. We inspect what can be seen without opening up the roof so hidden fixings aren’t visible to us. We note what couldn’t be seen.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it as you book and we will plan the survey around it.

Which parts of the roof does snagging cover?

All the parts of the roof we can see safely, including ridges, verges, valleys, flashings, vents and gutters. The loft space is checked where there’s safe access, and we note any mess or damage left after the work.

What does a new roof inspection cost?

The Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard from £250 and the Premium from £400, all with VAT included. Just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form for a price.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years.

New roof snagging around Durrington

Durrington is within about 3 miles of the coast, and places near the sea get more salt in the air and more wind than inland. Salt is hard on nails, clips and metal flashings, and strong wind lifts anything already loose on a roof. With Ecclesden Manor about 2.6 miles west, Durrington sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.

Landlords with a home close to Durrington-On-Sea station may find that the roof is worth checking before you add another property to a portfolio or pay a roofer in full. The streets around a church such as St Symphorian's Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, ask the seller about past roof repairs, because older roofs frequently have patched valleys, replaced slates and reset ridges.

Durrington is about 1 mile north-west of Worthing, in West Sussex. Roofs in Durrington get the same thorough look as anywhere else in West Sussex. Our area takes in places right across West Sussex, large and small. For surveys nearby, see our Brighton page.
