Roof survey in EN7: how it works
We inspect what can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows and other vantage points, from inside the loft and from the roof itself where it’s safe. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging and, where applicable, a drone, for roofs that are hard to see well. All we need from you is access to the property and the loft. Everything we see is photographed for the report. We survey ridges, hips and valleys, the roof space and clay and concrete tiles, and people most often book us about worn lead at chimneys and abutments and cracked or blistered flat roof coverings.
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes an hour or two for most houses, and more on a big or complicated roof. If you have questions on the day, just ask.
- You get in touch with the address and anything you’ve noticed.
- A visit is booked for a weekday or a weekend.
- The roof is inspected from the ground, windows, the loft and the roof itself where it’s safe.
- Every part of the roof is checked and photographed.
- We email a written report with photos and recommendations.

Around Cheshunt
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Goffs School, Goffs-Churchgate Academy and Cheshunt Park, among other places. You’ll also find St Mary the Virgin (0.5 miles south), Andrews Lane Primary School (within half a mile south-west) and The Green Dragon Public House (0.5 miles south). For rail, the closest station is Cheshunt station, roughly 1.3 miles south-east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include The National Speedway Museum (2.4 miles north) and St Michaels Hospital (3.7 miles south-west). The countryside around Cheshunt includes Lippitts Hill and Danemead.
Homes and roofs across EN7
EN7 has everything from older homes with tall chimneys to modern estates. Blocked gutters, slipped slates and tired flashings turn up on all of them sooner or later.
Our area takes in slate-roofed London terraces, clay-tiled Weald houses, Essex weatherboarding and post-war new towns. EN7 is part of that mix.
Cheshunt: If you own a rental within reach of Cheshunt station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at. Homes near green spaces such as Cheshunt Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn.
How we price roof surveys
Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- Roof area
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we will tell you which fits.
What to tell us when you get in touch
These details help when you contact us:
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
Every survey is priced before it’s booked, so you know the cost up front. Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
What this survey can’t tell you
It’s useful to know what a survey will not do before booking:
- A full building survey of the property
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)
Landlords, agents and block managers in EN7
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
We survey roofs for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. A report with photographs gives you a clear record of the roof, useful for planning maintenance.
Checking the roof from ground level
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry.
Why act early?
Hidden gutters and valleys can fail without warning. An overflow there sends water indoors. We look at them before they cause trouble.

Your questions about roof surveys in EN7
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It is included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.
Will you check the loft?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
Do you cover EN7?
Yes. We survey roofs in EN7 and the rest of Hertfordshire, as part of our work across London and the South East. To book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
How do I book a survey in EN7?
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Can you survey in bad weather?
A survey can typically go ahead in light rain. Strong wind or a downpour can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
Can you tell me how long my roof will last?
We do not put a figure on it, because so much depends on the fixings, underlay and upkeep. What we do is explain the roof’s condition and what to deal with first.
