Pre-purchase roof survey in Moor Park: what you get
We survey roofs for buyers in Moor Park and across London and South East England. From terraced and semi-detached homes to detached houses and flats, we follow the same careful process. We tell you what’s sound, what needs attention and how urgent it is. We are insured for professional indemnity and public liability, with more than 20 years’ experience behind us. To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey lead flashings and valleys, chimney stacks and natural slate, and people most often book us about gutters that overflow or drip at the joints and gaps where slates or tiles have come loose.
Homes across London range from Victorian and Edwardian terraces to interwar semis, post-war blocks and new developments, and a home in Moor Park could be any of them. Whether the roof is old or newly laid, the problem areas depend on how and when the building went up. Slates, hidden valley gutters, parapets and flat roofs over back additions all need checking in their own way.
We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

What a pre-purchase roof survey doesn’t cover
Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:
- Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up
- A valuation or a promise of a lower price
- Confirmation of asbestos in cement sheets or soffits
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.

Questions from Moor Park
How do I find out if my home in Moor Park is listed?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Moor Park?
Typically it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we’ll work around them.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, if the freeholder or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
Do you cover Moor Park?
Yes. We cover Moor Park and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and South East England. To book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
Can you survey in bad weather?
A survey can usually go ahead in light rain. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we’ll agree a new date if the weather isn’t suitable.
What’s the best way to book?
Just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Pre-purchase roof surveys in Moor Park: local notes
Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. If your home in Moor Park is one of them, bay roofs, hips and later dormers each have their own details. The covering on a house you’re buying, or on a roof just finished, tells us where to look hardest. The wider area around Moor Park has a long history of building, with Headstone Manor about 3.9 miles south-east. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Take an older house close to Holy Trinity Church: ask the seller about past roof repairs, because older roofs often have patched valleys, replaced slates and reset ridges. If you own a rental within reach of Rickmansworth station, the roof is worth checking before you add another property to a portfolio or pay a roofer in full.
Moor Park is about 2 miles south-east of Rickmansworth, in Greater London. We carry out pre-purchase roof surveys in Moor Park for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings. Across Greater London, we cover Moor Park. We also survey roofs in London.

Moor Park’s nearest station is Rickmansworth station, roughly 2.1 miles north-west of the centre. What we look for on each type of roof
Gutters and parapets
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter, usually to the back of the house. If the home you are buying has one, that gutter and its outlet get a careful look.
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks, loose pots and eroded mortar are common findings. We note them with photos so you can ask about them.
Leave it or get it looked at?
Once you exchange, the roof’s problems become yours. Before it, you still have choices. A survey after you’ve moved in tells you the same things, but with far less room to act on them. In a London terrace or conversion, a roof defect rarely stays your problem alone: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
Prices start from £150, including VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both including VAT. You will know the exact price before booking.

Common roof problems in Moor Park
Many roofs have had quick fixes over the years. Bitumen painted over a flashing, mortar where lead should be, or a few tiles that don’t match can point to a problem that keeps coming back. We note what we see so you can ask about it.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Sagging ridge lines or uneven roof slopes
- Gutters that overflow or drip at the joints
- Old water stains in the roof space
- Patch repairs that may hide an ongoing problem
For a London address like Moor Park, it helps to know about controlled parking before the day, along with any off-street space.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Their insurance cover
- What happens after the report arrives

How it works
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take about one to two hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Surveys in Moor Park can be booked for any day of the week. It helps if you can point us to a visitor permit or a nearby bay. Upstairs rooms at the back are useful too, as they often give the best view of a rear addition.
- We help you pick the package that suits the property.
- We agree a visit, including weekends if that helps.
- The coverings, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
- Standard and Premium surveys add the extra checks they include.
- We send the report with recommendations ranked by urgency, ready for you to discuss with the seller or agent.
Getting ready for the survey
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- Jot down any questions you want answered
