North Camp: your questions answered
Is my home in North Camp listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Will you come out to North Camp?
Yes, North Camp is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Can I take the findings back to the seller?
Yes. The report sets out what we found, with photos, which you can share with the seller or agent. We can’t promise how the seller will respond.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.
Are you insured?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you contact us and we will explain what’s needed.
About our pre-purchase roof survey in North Camp
The roof is one of the most expensive parts of a home to repair, and one of the hardest for a buyer to see. Our pre-purchase roof survey gives you a careful look at it before you’re committed. We check the slates or tiles, the ridges and valleys, the flashings, the chimneys and the gutters, plus the loft where there’s safe access. The findings come in a written report with photos. We survey the roof space, flat-roofed extensions and dormers and clay and concrete tiles, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps where slates or tiles have come loose and roof slopes that look uneven or sagging.
Smaller places like North Camp frequently have bungalows and cottages as well as houses, many of them extended or given dormers over the years. Even on a low roof, dormers, valleys and flat-roofed additions need a careful look. The same goes for a purchase or a new roof around North Camp. Snags and wear both tend to show at dormer lead work and along flat-roof edges.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

What a survey costs
To price your survey, we look at:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The shape of the roof and its details
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- The roof’s overall size
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
Getting in touch
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
Our price is from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.
What this survey can’t tell you
It’s useful to know what a survey will not do before you book:
- A structural engineer’s report
- Anything beyond the roof, which a full home survey covers
- Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

What we do, step by step
After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a written report with photos, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a typical house, with time for the loft where it can be reached. Parking around North Camp is typically easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can frequently be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest.
- Once your offer is accepted, you tell us the address and when you hope to exchange.
- Access to the house and the roof space is agreed beforehand.
- We start outside, looking at the roof from the ground and from vantage points.
- Inside, we check the loft space and look at the roof from windows.
- You get a written report with photos and recommendations before you exchange.
Before the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Jot down any questions you want answered

Advice
What you can safely check yourself
A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we check the roof.
What a pre-purchase roof survey looks like in North Camp
North Camp is about 2 miles from Farnborough Airport. If the drone is used for your survey, the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions first. With Farnham Castle about 4.8 miles south-west, North Camp sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
The streets around a church such as St Mark are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, the roof’s history matters as much as its looks, and a survey brings the past repairs to light. Landlords with a home close to North Camp station may find that the roof is worth checking before you add another property to a portfolio or pay a roofer in full.

How the survey changes by roof type
Gutters and parapets
Gutters, downpipes and outlets carry water away from walls. We check for blockages, leaking joints and sagging runs, along with fascias and soffits.
Clay and concrete tiles
Tiled roofs frequently last half a century or longer. Cracked, slipped or missing tiles are noted, along with odd replacement tiles that hint at earlier leaks.
What else we do in North Camp
Why it’s worth a survey now in North Camp
Sellers are not always aware of roof problems. The forms they complete only show what they’re aware of. An independent look tells you how the roof is now. Homes in smaller places like North Camp can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.
Our price is from £150, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included.
