Bisham questions
Will you come out to Bisham?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Bisham?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.
Does a roof survey replace a structural engineer?
No. If we see signs that need an engineer, like serious sagging, we will say so. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report.
What’s the best way to book?
To book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.
What’s covered in a roof inspection?
Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, plus the roof space where there is safe access. The report includes photos and recommendations.
Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Bisham
There are three levels of survey: a Basic Survey from £150, a Standard Survey from £250 and a Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The Basic Survey gives a visual inspection, photos and written recommendations. The higher packages add more checks, such as moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging and a drone where applicable. Each one comes with a written report. We survey natural slate, clay and concrete tiles and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles and ridge tiles that have lifted or moved.
Some older homes in villages like Bisham are listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. A roof report helps you plan work with that in mind. Older materials such as clay tiles, slate and stone are frequently matched when work is done.
After the visit, you get a written report with photos, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

For landlords and managing agents
We survey roofs for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photographs, which helps you plan work between tenancies.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Roof surveys around Bisham
If the drone is used for your survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Harleyford Manor, about 1.5 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Bisham. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Landlords with a home close to Marlow station may find that the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at. If you live in an older home near Church of All Saints, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first.

How we price roof surveys
To price your survey, we look at:
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Which survey package you book
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical words. It is enough to tell us:
- What’s prompted the survey
- The property’s address and postcode
- Anything about access we should know
- When you need the report by
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine; never climb up to get a better view. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Roof by roof
Clay plain and peg tiles
Tile-hanging on walls and dormer cheeks is checked as part of the roof where it is relevant. Loose or missing tiles there let rain into the wall.
Concrete interlocking tiles
Interlocking tiles on shallow roofs depend on their laps and fixings. Lifted or cracked tiles are noted, particularly at the verges and ridge.
The survey, step by step
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can safely be seen, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey usually takes an hour or two for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. Older rural homes like those around Bisham can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- You tell us the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- We look at the roof from each safe vantage point outside.
- We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
- We email a written report with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Make sure pets are kept safely away

What we’re asked to look at in Bisham
Some damage starts inside the loft space. Poor ventilation lets condensation build up in the loft, and the damp gets into timbers and insulation. It can look like a leak.
Things that frequently lead to a survey include:
- Leaning or weathered chimney stacks
- Gutters that overflow in heavy rain
- Water stains on rafters and ceiling joists
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
Anyone responsible for a site like Bisham Church of England Academy will know that its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale.
What to check before booking
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- What exactly goes into their report
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- Is VAT included in the price?
What this survey cannot tell you
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Asbestos testing of any kind
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.
