Waldron Roof Survey
A roof condition survey for homes and buildings across Waldron, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Call or email for a price.
- Crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching
- Torn or sagging underlay
- Lifted, split or missing lead flashings
Roof by roof
Natural slate
Slate is one of the most durable roof coverings, yet the nails holding it often fail long before the slate. Slipped, cracked and missing slates are all noted, and for clips that show past repairs.
Flat roof coverings
Repeated coatings can hide what’s underneath. We say what we can see and when a closer look would need opening up.
Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Waldron
Three packages cover most roofs: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, including VAT. Basic is a visual inspection with photos and written recommendations. The higher packages add more checks, such as moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging and a drone where it applies. Every package includes a written report. Typical surveys look at ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs and condensation or damp timbers in the loft, on chimney stacks, flat roofs and clay and concrete tiles.
Village roofs often face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Older walls take a long time to dry once water gets in. A roof report shows what needs attention first. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are often where weather gets in first.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Prices for roof surveys in Waldron
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
What to let us know when you get in touch
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- The address and postcode of the property
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
We confirm the price for the job before booking, so you know the cost up front. Prices start from £150, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
The survey, step by step
The visit usually starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. In total, it takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Rural addresses near Waldron can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- You let us know the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- We agree a date, including weekends if that suits you.
- We check the roof from every safe viewpoint outside.
- We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
- We email a photo-illustrated written report and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
How to book
Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Waldron
Hidden gutters and valleys can fail without warning. An overflow there sends water indoors. A survey checks them while they’re still dry. Older and listed buildings around Waldron may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.
Why us?

Local roofs in Waldron
Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs, and the county’s older buildings include oast houses and Wealden hall houses. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
If you live near a park such as Passingworth Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near The Parish Church of All Saints, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first.

Common roof problems in Waldron
Not every roof problem comes from outside. Poor ventilation lets condensation build up in the loft, and the damp gets into timbers and insulation. It can look like a leak.
Common reasons to book include:
- Loose chimney pots
- Condensation or damp timbers in the loft
- Slates or tiles that have slipped or broken
- Loose ridge or hip tiles
If you let a flat or house near Buxted station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
Questions to ask before you book
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- Whether the price includes VAT
What we cannot see
Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- The condition of the rest of the building (that’s a RICS home survey)
- How the roof will behave in every kind of weather
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

Waldron: your questions answered
Is my home in Waldron listed or in a conservation area?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Buxted station?
Yes, that’s a common request. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.
Will you climb onto the roof?
Only when it’s safe. We also use views from ground level, windows and the roof space, and Premium includes a drone where it applies.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you as you book.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
How do I book a survey in Waldron?
To book, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the roof space, someone has to give us access.
