About our storm damage roof report in Bognor Regis
If your roof has been damaged, stay safe first. Take photos from the ground or from windows, and don’t climb onto the roof. If water is coming in, a roofer can put temporary protection in place. Our report records the damage so you have an independent record to give your insurer. Hold on to receipts for anything you pay for. If you’ve noticed slipped or missing slates or tiles and water coming in after the storm, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
Storms tend to hit many roofs in an area at once. A written record with photographs helps you explain what’s happened, whether to an insurer, a landlord or a roofer. We report what we find; we can’t say whether a claim will be paid. Wear and tear is typically excluded, so it is useful to know what is old and what is new.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Tips that help
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Record any water damage in rooms and the loft
- Note the date and time you first saw the damage
- Check how your policy defines a storm
- Ask a roofer for emergency temporary protection if water is coming in
For repair costs, ask a roofer to quote. They can use our report to see what needs doing.
Check the roof from ground level after strong winds. With binoculars, you can often spot problems without climbing. Never climb onto the roof yourself.
Your questions about storm damage roof reports in Bognor Regis
Does being near the coast affect roofs in Bognor Regis?
It can do. Bognor Regis is within about 1 mile of the sea, and coastal roofs tend to see faster wear on metal parts and more wind lifting loose pieces.
How do I find out if my home in Bognor Regis is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
How long does the survey take?
That depends on the size and shape of the roof; most visits take between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. The report is sent afterwards by email.
How much is a storm damage roof report?
A storm damage report starts from £150. Larger roofs are quoted for their size. The report does not include repair costs.
Will you deal with the insurance company for me?
No. We are not loss adjusters and don’t act for you with the insurer. We give you an independent report of the damage, which you can pass to your insurer.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Tell us about it when you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
What we are asked to look at in Bognor Regis
Roofs that were already worn are more likely to suffer in a storm. Nail fatigue, eroded ridge mortar and tired flashings can all fail in high winds. Our report notes both the storm damage and any older wear.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Stains appearing after strong winds
- Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
- Cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind
- Damaged flat roof membrane
Anyone responsible for a site like The Regis School will know that on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.
Before booking any roof surveyor

- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
What a storm damage roof report looks like in Bognor Regis
Bognor Regis lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where storms can bring strong gusts off the sea. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording, and many treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, though it varies. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in.
Homes near green spaces such as West Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching. If you own a rental within reach of Bognor Regis station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.
Bognor Regis is in West Sussex. Whether the building in Bognor Regis is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Our area takes in places right across West Sussex. Portsmouth is in our area too.

Why act early in Bognor Regis
Once the storm has passed, damage that looked minor can let water in for months. Acting quickly usually means less damage overall. In flats, shops and offices in Bognor Regis, a roof leak can reach more than one floor before it shows, where it damages ceilings, insulation and anything stored underneath. The earlier the cause is found, the smaller the job.
Our price is from £150, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.

What a storm damage roof report doesn’t cover
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:
- How your policy defines a storm
- The outcome of a claim
- A price for the repairs
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will point you to the right survey before booking. The full list of what we check.
What we look at
- Gutters and fascias
- Ridges and hips
- Flashings
- Flat roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Slate and tile slopes
The survey, step by step
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a report with photographs. As for time on site, it typically takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. In Bognor Regis, we survey everything from flats and houses to commercial buildings. Access is the part that changes most from one building to the next, so it is agreed before the day. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.
- We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
- We send you the report by email for your insurer.
Before the survey
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
