Need a storm damage roof report in Grahame Park?

What you can safely check yourself

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

About our storm damage roof report in Grahame Park

A storm damage roof report is priced from £150. You get a written report with photos by email. It is not a repair quote and doesn’t include repair costs, so you’ll need a roofer’s quote for that. The insurer may still send a loss adjuster of its own. What you get is an independent record of the damage and what seems to have caused it. If you are worried about flashings pulled away from walls or stacks and ridge tiles that have come loose, we can find out what’s behind it.

Many London homes are well over a century old and their roofs have been patched more than once. Insurers typically exclude wear and tear, so it helps to know whether damage is old or new. A careful look in Grahame Park tells the two apart where the evidence allows. Photos and a written account give you something specific to show an insurer, a landlord or a roofer.

The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

How it works

We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. In Grahame Park, as in much of London, a good many properties are flats or terraces without side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents when you book.

  1. We start with what you’ve seen and any temporary repairs.
  2. Inside, we look for signs of water in the loft and rooms below.
  3. The roof is inspected from the ground, windows and the roof where it is safe.
  4. Storm damage and older wear are recorded separately where we can.
  5. The report, with photos, is emailed to you.

Common questions in Grahame Park

Is my home in Grahame Park listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Do you carry out roof surveys in Grahame Park?

Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Grahame Park is part of that. You can phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and some details, and we will talk through which survey suits.

What if the roof was already worn?

Insurers usually exclude wear and tear. Our report gives an honest view of what’s recent damage and what’s older wear. Your insurer decides the claim.

Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?

We can’t say whether a claim will be paid. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause.

How many surveys have you done?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

Does someone need to be in?

Not always. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

Are you loss adjusters?

No. We aren’t loss adjusters and don’t act for you with the insurer. We provide an independent record of the roof, which you can pass to your insurer.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Grahame Park

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.

Practical tips

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out:

  • Take photos from ground level or a window, never by climbing
  • Arrange temporary cover with a roofer if rain is getting in
  • Look at what your policy says about wear and tear
  • Keep invoices for temporary repairs

The report is emailed to you, and you decide what to send to your insurer. It’s your record to use.

Store invoices and reports for any roof work. They can help show the roof was looked after.

When you need someone else

It is useful to know what a survey won’t do before booking:

  • What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes
  • The work of a loss adjuster appointed by your insurer
  • A price for the repairs

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Slate and tile slopes
  • Flashings
  • Chimney stacks
  • Ridges and hips
  • Flat roofs
  • Gutters and fascias

What affects the cost of storm damage roof reports

What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Booking your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • The property’s address and postcode
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors

Most bookings start with a short call: ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Leaks and storm damage in Grahame Park

About 3.5 miles south-east lies Heath Hall, a reminder of how long the area around Grahame Park has been built on. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in.

If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near St Augustine Grahame Park, lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in. If you run a business near Broadwalk Centre, a quick answer on where water is coming in keeps a business running. Living close to Sunny Hill Park is pleasant, but mature trees mean leaves in gutters and valleys each autumn, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls.
