Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Millbank
After a storm, it’s useful to have a clear record of what happened to your roof. Our report shows the damage in photos and says whether it looks like storm damage, wear and tear, or a mix. We are not loss adjusters, and we cannot say whether a claim will be paid. What you get is an independent view of the roof’s condition. We survey slate and tile slopes, flat roofs and ridges and hips, and common reasons people get in touch are damaged flat roof membrane and damage from fallen branches or debris.
For a small place like Millbank, the inspection is the same as anywhere: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Tell us where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, along with any repairs done before. If you have photographs of the water coming in, they help as well.
We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Photographs show what each point refers to, and recommendations are put in order of urgency where relevant.

When you need someone else
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- The outcome of a claim
- What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes
- What your policy covers, which depends on its wording
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.
What we look at
- Chimney stacks
- Ridges and hips
- Gutters and fascias
- Slate and tile slopes
- Flashings
- Flat roofs
Leaks and storm damage in Millbank
Millbank is within about 3 miles of the coast. What counts as a storm is set by each policy, often gusts of around 55 mph, and the insurer makes the decision. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.
Take a building like Hoath Primary School: water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot. If you live near a park like Curtis Wood, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys.

What affects the price in Millbank
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- Roof area
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
What to tell us when you get in touch
When you call or email, these details help:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
Our price is from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.
DIY checks: what’s safe
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
The survey, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. It typically takes an hour or two for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older roofs in small places like Millbank can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.
- You tell us what happened and whether a roofer has made the roof safe.
- Inside, we look for signs of water in the loft and rooms below.
- The roof is inspected from the ground, windows and the roof where it’s safe.
- Storm damage and older wear are recorded separately where we can.
- The report, with photos, is emailed to you.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
How to book
Most bookings start with a short call: phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You will have a price before anything is arranged.
Advice
Questions from Millbank
Do you cover smaller places like Millbank?
Yes, Millbank is covered. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
How do I find out if my home in Millbank is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when booking.
What does a storm damage report cost?
Our price is from £150, including VAT. Bigger roofs are quoted on size and access. Repair costs are not included, so ask a roofer to quote.
Are you loss adjusters?
No. We are not loss adjusters and do not act for you with the insurer. We give you an independent report of the damage, which you can pass to your insurer.
Should I go up on the roof to take photos?
Safely, from ground level or a window. Never climb onto a roof after a storm. Binoculars can help you see damage from below and we will inspect the rest from safe positions.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the survey around it.
Do you need a storm damage roof report in Millbank?
Strong winds lift loose or poorly fixed slates and tiles, ridge pieces and flashings. Driving rain then gets in through the gaps. People typically call us after a storm, once they’ve noticed damage or a leak.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Water coming in after the storm
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- Flashings pulled away from walls or stacks
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
If you live in an older home near Church of the Holy Cross, water on an older roof tends to find its way in at the lead, the valleys or the chimney.
Questions to ask before you book
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- What insurance they carry
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- What experience they bring
