Storm damage roof report in Yelsted
Each roof is looked at from the safest viewpoints available: from ground level, from windows and higher points, from the loft space and from the roof where it’s safe. Every area of damage is photographed and described. If part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. You get a written report with photographs to give to your insurer. If you’ve noticed roofs hit by falling trees and torn or lifted flat roof coverings, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Somewhere as small as Yelsted, older roofs have often been repaired many times. That makes it hard to tell new damage from old wear, which matters if you’re thinking of an insurance claim. The report says what was seen and what it points to. Damp in old walls and timbers is slow to dry, so the sooner the cause is found the better.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Storm damage roof reports around Yelsted
Yelsted lies within about 5 miles of the sea, so storms can arrive with strong gusts off the water. What counts as a storm is set by each policy, frequently gusts of around 55 mph, and the insurer makes the decision. Older houses across Kent frequently have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it’s detailed.
If you live near a park such as Stockbury Hill Wood, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls. Take a building like St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Primary School: a leak through a large roof is often found some distance from where the water shows inside.
Yelsted is about 3 miles south-east of Gillingham, in Kent. Anywhere in Yelsted, we can carry out storm damage roof reports at your property. Our area takes in places right across Kent. There’s also a page for Maidstone.

Yelsted questions
Is the coastal weather around Yelsted hard on roofs?
Places near the sea get more wind and more salt in the air than inland, and both are hard on roofs. Salt is hard on nails, clips and metal flashings, while strong wind lifts anything already loose.
Will you come out to Yelsted?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
How do I arrange a storm damage roof report in Yelsted?
Simply call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.
Can you put a tarpaulin over the damage?
Emergency temporary protection is a job for a roofer. If it’s safe, take photos before it goes on. We can record the damage in our report.
Do you need to get into the loft?
Normally, if there’s one and it can be reached safely. The loft space can show things the outside cannot, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.
Are you loss adjusters?
No. We write an independent report, and you decide how to use it. Your insurer may appoint its own loss adjuster.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it is applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.

What this survey cannot tell you
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- What your policy covers, which depends on its wording
- A price for the repairs
- The outcome of a claim
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Do you need a storm damage roof report in Yelsted?
Landlords and building managers often need a written record after a storm. The report can be shared with owners, tenants or insurers.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Ridge tiles that have come loose
- Damaged gutters and fascias
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
If you own a rental within reach of Rainham (Kent) station, tracing a leak quickly matters when a tenant is living with it.
Before booking anyone
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- What experience they bring
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- Which limits apply to the survey
What happens if roof problems are left?
Many policies expect damage to be reported promptly. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. An independent report can follow. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You will know the price for your roof before booking.

What we do, step by step
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit usually takes an hour or two for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Somewhere as small as Yelsted, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- We record and photograph the damage.
- The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
- You get a written report to pass to your insurer.
Getting ready for the survey
- Check pets are kept safely away
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
