Questions from Bierton
Do you cover Bierton?
We do. The survey and report are the same in Bierton as anywhere else.
Do you cover smaller places like Bierton?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Will the survey show heat loss through my roof?
Thermal images can suggest where heat is escaping and where insulation may be missing. We do not give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the images show where improvements may help.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when you book.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it helps and it’s safe, yes. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We check everything that can safely be seen: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
About our thermal roof survey in Bierton
Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photographs, making it clear where on the roof each pattern is. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. If you’re worried about ceilings that feel colder in places and damp that repairs haven’t cured, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
In a village or hamlet like Bierton, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Honest limits
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- A structural engineer’s assessment
- Confirming water without moisture readings
- A formal energy assessment
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will recommend the right survey. The full list of what we check.
What we look at
- Commercial roofs
- Ceilings below the roof
- Flat roofs
- Loft conversions
- Pitched roof slopes
- Insulated roof spaces
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
How it works
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It typically takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Older roofs in small places like Bierton can have low, tight loft spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it’s safe.
- We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
- Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
- Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.
How to prepare
- Keep pets in another room
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
How to book
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine. To get started, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Related advice
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.
Signs you need a thermal roof survey in Bierton
Not every roof problem shows on the surface. Trapped moisture, missing insulation and hidden heat loss are three examples. Thermal imaging gives us another way to look for them.
Here are some of the things we see often:
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
- Areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
- Water that travels before it shows
If you run a business near Friars Square, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most.
What to check before booking
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- What the report includes, and whether it has photos
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
What a thermal roof survey looks like in Bierton
Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help. Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.
If you live in an older home near Church of St James, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. Take a building like Bierton Church of England Combined School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

How the survey changes by roof type
GRP fibreglass roofs
GRP surfaces can be shiny, which affects thermal readings. We take that into account and check findings with moisture readings.
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
Many single-ply and EPDM roofs sit on insulation boards. Wet boards can show as temperature differences on the images.
