Climping Thermal Roof Survey
Thermal roof surveys across Climping, with over 20 years’ experience behind it. Every survey ends with a written report and photographs.
- Water that travels before it shows
- Cold areas below the roof
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
About our thermal roof survey in Climping
Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. There’s an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. Common reasons to book are wet insulation beneath the membrane and damp that repairs haven’t cured, across pitched roof slopes, flat roofs and loft conversions.
Somewhere as small as Climping, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
After the visit, you get a written report with photos, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.
Booking your survey
Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:
- Your timetable, like an exchange date
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Drones, thermal imaging and Climping roofs
Climping is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind off the sea can be strong. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
Ecclesden Manor lies about 4.7 miles east, so building around Climping goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey by drone or thermal camera does not touch the roof itself. Anyone responsible for a site like St Mary's CofE Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
Climping is about 2 miles west of Littlehampton, in West Sussex. Whether the building in Climping is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Across West Sussex, we cover Climping and the places around it. Brighton is in our area too.

What we do, step by step
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Older roofs in small places like Climping can have low, tight loft spaces, so it is useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Preparing for the visit
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Let us know about parking before the day
How to book
Getting a price is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or email us, let us know about the property and we will explain which survey suits. The price is agreed up front.
Advice
Signs you need a thermal roof survey in Climping
Buyers sometimes want more than a visual look at the roof. A Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where applicable and a same-day report, which helps when timescales are tight.
We’re often asked to look at:
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
- Gaps in loft insulation
- Wet areas near outlets and upstands
- Stains that keep coming back
If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Which limits apply to the survey
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
How the survey changes by roof type
Parapets, valleys and junctions
When valley or parapet gutters overflow, water can get into walls and ceilings. We use the camera and moisture readings to help follow it.
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
Single-ply PVC, TPO and EPDM roofs are often laid over insulation boards. Wet boards can show as temperature differences on the images.
For landlords and managing agents
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.
With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
Checking the roof from the ground
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
Climping: your questions answered
Is my home in Climping listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Do you cover smaller places like Climping?
Yes. Climping is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
Can you use a thermal camera on a sloping roof?
It can show heat loss and some damp, but it has more limits there. We explain what the images can and can’t tell you, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it’s applicable. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.
How do I arrange a thermal roof survey in Climping?
Simply phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
