Thermal Roof Survey in Worthing
Wondering about the roof at a property in Worthing? You can book a thermal roof survey in Worthing and across West Sussex, with plain-English findings.
- Areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Water that travels before it shows
Thermal roof survey in Worthing: what you get
Wet insulation under a flat roof covering holds heat for longer than dry. So a wet patch can show as a warmer or cooler area on the camera. This can give an idea of how far water has travelled beneath the membrane, something you can’t typically tell from the surface. Moisture readings are then used to check what the camera suggests. We are frequently asked to look into areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions and damp that repairs haven’t cured, across commercial roofs, insulated roof spaces and ceilings below the roof.
Conditions on the day matter: drones can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day with a dry roof and little wind. In Worthing, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part in when the visit happens, and it can move if conditions change. A look inside the roof space can go ahead whatever the forecast.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

What a thermal roof survey does not cover
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:
- A formal energy assessment
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Worthing
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed beforehand. We survey seven days a week, which can make access easier.
An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, with the report sent to whoever needs it. Access is agreed with the tenant in advance.
Leave it or get it looked at?
The longer moisture sits in a roof, the more it can affect timbers and finishes below. Looking now, while the damage may still be limited, keeps more options open. In a place with as many rented homes as Worthing, small roof faults often turn into tenant complaints. Spotting it early is easier than dealing with water damage in an occupied home.
To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Different roofs, different checks
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
On larger commercial single-ply roofs, thermal imaging can help target moisture readings. It focuses the survey on the areas that matter.
Pitched slate and tile roofs
Thermal images of a pitched roof can still show heat loss patterns and some damp areas. The report explains what the images can tell you and what they can’t.
What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Height and safe access
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

What we do, step by step
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It typically takes about one to two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. For a commercial building or block in Worthing, roof access is agreed with whoever manages it ahead of the visit. At home, it’s useful to clear a route to the loft and point out any stains or leaks. The written report follows, with photos.
- First we go over the roof, the problem you’ve noticed and the conditions forecast for the visit.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe viewpoints.
- A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
- Areas that look unusual on the camera are checked with moisture readings where possible.
- You get a report with thermal images, photographs and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Keep pets in another room
- Jot down any questions you want answered

Advice
Flying and imaging in Worthing
Worthing is within about 2 miles of the coast, and wind off the sea can be strong. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. Where the drone is part of the survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
With Ecclesden Manor about 3.1 miles west, the area around Worthing has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself. For an older house near a landmark such as St Andrew's Church, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. For hotels and guest houses around Worthing, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest.

FAQs for Worthing
What do I need to do before a survey in Worthing?
Mostly, it’s about access: the loft hatch, any locked gates and where to park in Worthing. It also helps to know about any leaks or earlier repairs.
Do you cover Worthing?
Yes, Worthing is one of the places we work. The survey and report are the same in Worthing as anywhere else, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Can you use a thermal camera on a sloping roof?
It can be useful, though pitched roofs are normally harder to read. Slates and tiles over a ventilated space can mask what’s below, so we also look from the loft where it is safe.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them.
Does the weather affect a thermal survey?
The weather makes a real difference. It works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind. Rain and strong wind can make the images less clear, so we discuss the forecast when booking.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
