What this survey cannot tell you
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- A structural engineer’s assessment
- An energy rating for the building
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.
What this survey covers

- Ceilings below the roof

Thermal roof survey in Conyer
Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. We survey commercial roofs, insulated roof spaces and pitched roof slopes, and people most often book us about water getting in at parapets and stacks and missing or slipped insulation.
Villages like Conyer often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. These are the things that affect it:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Roof area
Every price we give includes VAT. Thermal roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.
Helping us price your survey
Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
What a thermal roof survey looks like in Conyer
Conyer is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind off the sea can be strong. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

Tips that help
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:
- Clear a path to the loft hatch before we arrive
- Leave the roof to people with safe access
- Heat the home normally on the days before
- Check outlets after heavy rain
Many people send the report to roofers, who can then quote for the areas shown. Each thermal image is matched to a normal photo, so the areas are easy to locate.
Check that loft insulation is laid evenly and hasn’t been pushed aside. Insulation is often moved when people work in the loft space.

Your questions about thermal roof surveys in Conyer
Do you cover Conyer?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and the South East, and Conyer is part of that. You can call 07833 053749 or email us with the address and some details.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Conyer?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Are you insured?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
Does the weather affect a thermal survey?
The results depend on the weather. Dry, calm weather after some sun gives the best chance of clear images. Our report notes the conditions and how they affected the findings.
Can you check my loft insulation with a thermal camera?
The camera can point to heat loss and gaps in insulation. We do not give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the images show where improvements may help.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, like an exchange date, tell us as you book.
How the survey works
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, emailed to you. As for time on site, most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Older rural homes like those around Conyer can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it’s safe.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there is safe access, in the loft.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.
Getting ready for the survey
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Advice
When to book a survey in Conyer
Building owners and managing agents use thermal surveys to plan work on larger flat roofs. Patterns can point to wet areas and show which parts look sound, so moisture readings can be targeted.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Water that travels before it shows
- Wet insulation beneath the membrane
- Damp that repairs haven’t cured
- Patches of heat loss across the roof
For any home in Conyer, it’s the small, early fault that is cheapest to put right.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
