Thermal Roof Survey in Teynham
Independent thermal roof surveys in Teynham. We have completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Wet areas near outlets and upstands
- Water that travels before it shows
- Damp patches with no obvious cause
How the survey changes by roof type
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
On big single-ply roofs, the camera helps show where to take readings. It focuses the survey on the areas that matter.
Parapets, valleys and junctions
Water often gets in where roofs meet walls, parapets or valley gutters. Thermal imaging can help show damp patterns around them.
About our thermal roof survey in Teynham
Thermal imaging works best in the right conditions. A sunny day before the survey, a dry roof surface and little wind all help. Rain, a strong wind or heavy cloud can make the images less clear. We’ll discuss the weather with you when booking, and our report notes the conditions and how they affected what we saw. We survey insulated roof spaces, pitched roof slopes and commercial roofs, and people most often book us about thin or uneven insulation in the roof and wet insulation beneath the membrane.
Around Teynham, a good many roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.
We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, along with how urgent it is.

Do you need a thermal roof survey in Teynham?
Some buyers want extra detail before they commit to a purchase. The Premium Survey brings thermal imaging and a drone inspection where it applies, with a report the same day, which suits a purchase that’s moving quickly.
Common reasons to book include:
- Patches of heat loss across the roof
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
- Stains that keep coming back
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
Belmont House and Gardens, about 4.4 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Teynham. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Flying and imaging in Teynham
The coast is about 3 miles or less from Teynham. Clear thermal results need a dry roof and little wind after a sunny day, so the date depends on the forecast. If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Teynham Parochial Church of England Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to Church of St Mary: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

What this survey cannot tell you
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Proving moisture from the images alone
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
- Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll point you to the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.
What this survey covers

- Loft conversions
DIY checks: what’s safe
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
How it works
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. All told, expect between one and two hours for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Teynham, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. The loft, where there is safe access, completes the picture.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Leave side gates unlocked
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Advice
Your questions about thermal roof surveys in Teynham
How do I find out if my home in Teynham is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Teynham?
Yes, Teynham is one of the places we work. The survey and report are the same in Teynham as anywhere else.
Can a thermal survey trace a roof leak?
It’s a useful tool for tracing leaks, but not the only one. What it shows depends on the weather and the roof. If the source can’t be confirmed, we will say what could help next, such as electronic leak detection.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.
Will the camera show exactly where the water is?
Thermal imaging shows temperature rather than water. Wet insulation holds heat longer than dry, so it can stand out, and moisture readings are used to check it.
Is thermal imaging useful on pitched roofs?
It can show heat loss and some damp, but it has more limits there. We explain what the images can and cannot tell you, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
Why it is worth a survey now in Teynham
Without thermal imaging, the only way to see how far water has spread is often to open up the roof. That helps you and your roofer decide what really needs replacing. Homes in smaller places like Teynham can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
