Thermal imaging roof survey in Frithend, Hampshire
An experienced roof surveyor for thermal roof surveys in Frithend. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys.
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Wet areas near outlets and upstands
- Leaks that are hard to trace
Do you need a thermal roof survey in Frithend?
Building owners and managing agents use thermal surveys to plan work on larger flat roofs. It can suggest which areas may be wet and which seem dry, so we know where to take moisture readings.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
- Wet insulation beneath the membrane
For an older house near a landmark such as The Church Of The Good Shepherd, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

How a thermal roof survey works in Frithend
On a flat roof, wet insulation holds heat longer than dry insulation. So a wet patch can show as a warmer or cooler area on the camera. This can give an idea of how far water has travelled beneath the membrane, something you cannot usually tell from the surface. We then check those areas with moisture readings. If you’ve noticed damp patches with no obvious cause and cold spots on ceilings under the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
In a village or hamlet like Frithend, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible.

Thermal roof surveys in Frithend: local notes
The wider area around Frithend has a long history of building, with Farnham Castle about 4.8 miles north-east. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help.
Frithend is about 4 miles south-west of Farnham, in Hampshire. Wherever you are in Frithend, we can come and survey your property, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday. Our Hampshire coverage includes Frithend. For surveys nearby, see our Guildford page.

Questions from Frithend
Is Frithend in the area you cover?
Yes, Frithend is within the area we cover. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property.
Is my home in Frithend listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, like cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys run seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?
The camera doesn’t see water itself. Wet insulation holds heat longer than dry, so it can stand out, but we check each finding with moisture readings.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not unless it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It is included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.
What we do, step by step
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take about one to two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Somewhere like Frithend needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Leave side gates unlocked
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
How to book
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know where you stand. Prices start from £400, including VAT. To book, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What we look for on each type of roof
Loft insulation
The difference is clearest when the home is heated and it’s cold out. Our report notes how the conditions affected the images.
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
Many single-ply and EPDM roofs sit on insulation boards. If water gets under them, thermal imaging can suggest which boards are wet.
Why it is worth a survey now in Frithend
For buyers, a thermal survey adds detail that a visual inspection can’t give. Hidden problems found before exchange can be raised with the seller or agent. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
Why us?

Checking the roof from ground level
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry.
Honest limits
It helps to know what a survey will not do before you book:
- The condition of timbers we cannot see
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.
