Roof survey in Frithend
We survey roofs in Frithend and across London and the South East. We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. We are insured for professional indemnity and public liability, and bring 20+ years’ experience. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photographs and recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey flat roofs, the roof space and natural slate, and common reasons people get in touch are leaking gutter joints and downpipes and crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching.
Older buildings in small places like Frithend may be listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. Knowing the roof’s condition helps you plan ahead with that in mind. Older materials like clay tiles, slate and stone are frequently matched when work is done.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Frithend
If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look.
The streets around a church such as The Church Of The Good Shepherd are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first. For landlords with property near Bentley (Hampshire) station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.
Frithend is about 4 miles south-west of Farnham, in Hampshire. Bookings from Frithend are handled just like any other: a call or an email, a price, then a date. Across Hampshire, we cover Frithend. We also survey roofs in Guildford.
All of GU35 is covered for roof surveys. If you need a roof survey at a property on The Kilns and Frith End Road or a nearby road, we can help. If you’re just outside Frithend, we cover Batt's Corner (1 mile north-east), Bucks Horn Oak (1 mile north), Dockenfield (1 mile east), Blacknest (1 mile north-west) and Sleaford (1 mile south). We also work in nearby towns such as Basingstoke (13 miles north-west), Farnborough (10 miles north), Fleet (8 miles north), Aldershot (7 miles north-east), Alton (5 miles west) and Petersfield (11 miles south).
Local landmarks in Frithend
Typical jobs here are in homes near The Halfway House. Frithend’s nearest station is Bentley (Hampshire) station, roughly 1.9 miles north-west. A little further out are Barley Pound (4 miles north) and Chase Community Hospital (3.5 miles south). Open spaces near Frithend include Deadwater Valley.
When to book a survey in Frithend
A blocked gutter does more harm than it looks. Leaves, moss and silt build up, the gutter overflows and water soaks the walls. Hidden gutters behind parapets and in valleys can send water indoors, particularly near trees.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Blocked, sagging or leaking gutters
- Lifted, split or missing lead flashings
- Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles
- Worn or blocked valleys
Farnham Castle lies about 4.8 miles north-east, so building around Frithend goes back a long way. If you own one of the older houses, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
Frithend questions
Can a landlord with a rental near Bentley (Hampshire) station book a roof survey?
Of course. We just need to know who will give access, and we can send the report to you or your agent.
How do I find out if my home in Frithend is listed?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
Do you go up on the roof?
When the roof and the conditions make it safe, yes. We also use views from ground level, windows and the roof space.
Do you work in Frithend?
Yes. Frithend is part of the area we cover, and the service is the same as everywhere else we work.
What happens if roof problems are left?
By the time water marks a ceiling, it is often been getting in for a while. Insulation, plaster and timber can all be damp before you see a stain. A survey can pick up the early signs from the loft. For an older or listed building in a place like Frithend, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £150, including VAT.

Checking the roof from the ground
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. In a hamlet or village like Frithend, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start with the property details and any concerns.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- We check the roof from each safe vantage point outside.
- We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
- We email a report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
