Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Marden
Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photos, making it clear where on the roof each pattern is. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. If you are worried about leaks far from where the stain appears and ceilings that feel colder in places, we can find out what’s behind it, on insulated roof spaces, ceilings below the roof and flat roofs alike.
In smaller places like Marden, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. The forecast decides the day. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Honest limits
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Proving moisture from the images alone
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What this survey covers
- Flat roofs
- Pitched roof slopes
- Loft conversions
- Ceilings below the roof
- Insulated roof spaces
- Commercial roofs
Checking the roof from the ground
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we check the roof.
Airspace, weather and Marden roofs
Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Kent’s older buildings take in oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses as well. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
The streets around a church such as St Michael and All Angels Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building such as Marden Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Marden is about 7 miles south of Maidstone, in Kent. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Marden can all book thermal roof surveys. Across Kent, we cover Marden. We also survey roofs in Maidstone.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
To price your survey, we check:
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- Roof area
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.
Booking your survey
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- When you need the report by
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.
What we look for on each type of roof
GRP fibreglass roofs
Water under a GRP roof can reach the timber deck. Thermal imaging can suggest where that may be happening.
Loft insulation
In the loft space, the camera can pick up gaps and thin areas of insulation. We inspect the loft where it can be reached safely.
How the survey works
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take an hour or two for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. A visit to Marden is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed beforehand. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. If there are outbuildings or garages you want looked at, mention them.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- Leave a clear route to the loft
How to book
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Common questions in Marden
Do you carry out roof surveys in Marden?
Yes, Marden is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Will you come out to Marden?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report, and it doesn’t include calculations. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
What happens after the survey?
You will get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, so it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Yes, where it is applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
