Netteswell Thermal Roof Survey
An experienced roof surveyor for thermal roof surveys in Netteswell. Over 5,000 surveys and 20+ years behind us across London and the South East.
- Ceilings that feel colder in places
- Water that travels before it shows
- Heat escaping through the roof
Before and after the survey
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Check outlets after heavy rain
- Keep the heating on as usual before a heat loss survey
- Ask us about the forecast if rain is expected
- Leave the roof to people with safe access
Buyers can use the findings when talking to the seller or agent. It is your decision how to use it, whether you ask for work before completion or discuss the price.
Watch for new damp patches on ceilings beneath the roof. Catching a leak early stops insulation getting soaked.
About our thermal roof survey in Netteswell
Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photos, so it is easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We’re often asked to look into wet areas near outlets and upstands and ceilings that feel colder in places, on insulated roof spaces, pitched roof slopes and flat roofs.
In smaller places like Netteswell, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that can’t be judged properly from the ground.
We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

What this survey cannot tell you
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:
- Confirming water without moisture readings
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- A formal energy assessment
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

How the survey changes by roof type
Felt and asphalt flat roofs
These coverings sit directly on the layers beneath, so temperature differences often show through. Any patterns are checked with moisture readings.
Parapets, valleys and junctions
When valley or parapet gutters overflow, water can get into walls and ceilings. Thermal images, checked with moisture readings, can help trace it.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Thermal images can suggest the extent of wet areas without cutting into the roof. That helps you and your roofer decide what really needs replacing. Homes in smaller places like Netteswell can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, with VAT included.

How the survey works
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. The survey typically takes an hour or two for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. Parking around Netteswell is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.
Before we arrive
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Point out any leaks or damp patches

FAQs for Netteswell
Do you cover Netteswell?
Yes, Netteswell is within the area we cover. We work right across London and South East England. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property.
Will you come out to Netteswell?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it’s applicable. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
Does the weather affect a thermal survey?
Conditions on the day affect the results. A sunny day beforehand, a dry surface and calm air all help. Rain and strong wind can make the images less clear, so we discuss the forecast when booking.

What else we do in Netteswell
Drones, thermal imaging and Netteswell roofs
Older buildings in Essex often have clay tiles and weatherboarding, with post-war and more recent estates making up much of the newer housing. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
Take a building like Freshwaters Primary Academy: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Take an older house close to St Andrew's Methodist Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
