Thermal roof survey in Speed Gate

Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photographs, so it’s easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. Premium reports are sent the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. We survey insulated roof spaces, pitched roof slopes and commercial roofs, and people most often book us about heat escaping through the roof and areas of a flat roof that may hold water.

In a village or hamlet like Speed Gate, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later.

Prices for thermal roof surveys in Speed Gate

Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:

  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
  • Roof area
  • The shape of the roof and its details

The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

What to tell us when you contact us

Getting the details right at the start saves time. It helps to include:

  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What this survey can’t tell you

No survey can tell you everything, and it is better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:

  • Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
  • The condition of timbers we cannot see
  • Insulation values or heat loss calculations

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Commercial roofs
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Loft conversions
  • Flat roofs

What we are asked to look at in Speed Gate

Some defects simply can’t be seen with the eye. Trapped moisture, missing insulation and hidden heat loss are three examples. A thermal camera adds another way of finding them.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Water getting in at parapets and stacks
  • Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
  • Leaks far from where the stain appears
  • Damp that repairs haven’t cured

If you look after a building like Longfield Academy, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What experience they bring
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?

What a roof survey includes

How the survey changes by roof type

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

On felt and asphalt flat roofs, wet insulation can show as a temperature difference across the surface. Moisture readings are used to check them.

Single-ply and EPDM roofs

Single-ply PVC, TPO and EPDM roofs are frequently laid over insulation boards. If water gets under them, thermal imaging can suggest which boards are wet.

Questions from Speed Gate

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Speed Gate?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Will you come out to Speed Gate?

Yes, Speed Gate is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

We carry out surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

What happens after the survey?

You will receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

How experienced are you?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

Can thermal imaging show missing insulation?

Thermal images can suggest where heat is escaping and where insulation may be missing. We do not give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the images show where improvements may help.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest.

How it works

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a written report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. Rural addresses near Speed Gate can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

How to prepare

  • Let us know where we can park nearby
  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
