Thermal roof survey in Temple Park

Thermal imaging works best in the right conditions. A sunny day before the survey, a dry roof surface and little wind all help. Rain, wind and cloud can all make the patterns weaker. We’ll discuss the weather with you when booking, and our report notes the conditions and how they affected what we saw. If you are worried about water that travels before it shows and damp around roof outlets and upstands, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

Around Temple Park, a good many roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

How it works

When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we check everything we can see safely. Most surveys take an hour or two at a typical home, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. For a survey in Temple Park, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Weekday and weekend visits are both possible. Tell us about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.

  1. You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.

Advice

Temple Park questions

Is my home in Temple Park listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.

Will you come out to Temple Park?

Yes, Temple Park is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.

Do you use drones?

Yes, where it’s applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Can you do a thermal survey in any weather?

Conditions on the day have a big effect on what the camera can show. Dry, calm weather after some sun gives the best chance of clear images. Our report notes the conditions and how they affected the findings.

Are you insured?

Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

How long will you be at the property?

Time on site depends on the roof; most visits take an hour or two on an ordinary house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. The report is sent afterwards by email.

What you can safely check yourself

It’s useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Temple Park

Landlords, agents and building managers in Temple Park and across Bracknell Forest can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.

Flying and imaging in Temple Park

Temple Park is part of Bracknell, one of the post-war new towns. Homes from the post-war decades are common in the new towns, many with low-pitched roofs in concrete tiles and flat-roofed garages or porches. Low-pitched roofs can be hard to see from the street, which is where a drone or thermal camera helps. If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.

If you live in an older home near St Andrew, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. If you run a business near The Lexicon, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Meadow Vale Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Temple Park is about 1 mile north-west of Bracknell, in Bracknell Forest. Anywhere in Temple Park, we can come and survey your property. Our Bracknell Forest coverage includes Temple Park and the places around it. There’s also a page for Reading.

Not far away are Heath Lake and Holt Copse & Joel Park.

What this survey can’t tell you

It is useful to know what a survey won’t do before you book:

  • Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
  • A formal energy assessment

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and does not.

What this survey covers

  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Loft conversions
  • Flat roofs
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Commercial roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes

Roof by roof

Parapets, valleys and junctions

Water often gets in where roofs meet walls, parapets or valley gutters. Thermal imaging can help show damp patterns around them.

Pitched slate and tile roofs

Even on pitched roofs, the camera can point to heat loss and some damp. We explain what can and cannot be read from them.

Tips that help

A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Some pointers:

  • Check outlets after heavy rain
  • Keep the report to compare against after any repair
  • Check from ground level or a window, never by climbing
  • Do not switch the heating off before the visit

Many people send the report to roofers, who can then quote for the areas shown. Because the images are paired with photos, it is easy to find each area on the roof.

After repairs or a new covering, a later survey can confirm things are dry, when the conditions are suitable.
