Drone roof survey in Adstock: what you get

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. We’re frequently asked to look into vegetation in valleys and gutters and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, across tall and steep roofs, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Some older homes in villages like Adstock are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Airspace, weather and Adstock roofs

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

If you look after a building such as Padbury Church of England School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. With Claydon House about 3.2 miles south, the area around Adstock has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Adstock is about 3 miles south-east of Buckingham, in Buckinghamshire. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Adstock can all book drone roof surveys, with a written report and photographs every time. Landlord and commercial surveys in Adstock

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

We survey roofs for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos.

Common roof problems in Adstock

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Wind damage high on the roof
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters

If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Church of St Cecilia, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection

What to expect from a roof survey

Why it is worth a survey now in Adstock

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. For an older or listed building in a place like Adstock, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. You will know the price for the job before booking.

What you get with us

What a survey costs

The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:

  • How big the roof is
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, from £400 including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

Helping us price your survey

There is no need for technical words. It’s enough to let us know:

  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or email us when you are ready.

Adstock: your questions answered

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Adstock?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.

Is drone flying allowed in Adstock?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

How experienced are you?

We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys.

What do I do with the report?

We email you the written report with photos and recommendations. It’s yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys run on any day of the week. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.

What does a roof survey cost?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, and it is agreed before booking.

Tips from our surveys

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

How the survey works

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. Most visits take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Adstock needs a little journey planning: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it is safe.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Note where any stains or damp appear
