Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Allington

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are standing water on a flat roof and vegetation in valleys and gutters.

Places like Allington can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe

If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

How we price drone roof surveys

We confirm the exact price before you book. These are the things that affect it:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

What we need to know

A little information up front helps. Please include:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • What made you get in touch
  • Where the property is, with the postcode

Booking is simple: just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us a few details about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Allington questions

Do you cover smaller places like Allington?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Is my home in Allington listed or in a conservation area?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.

What happens after the survey?

You receive the written report by email, with photos and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when booking.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

Strong wind or a downpour stops a flight. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If we cannot fly, we’ll arrange another day or inspect by other means.

Do I need to be at home?

It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in.

How soon will I get the report?

That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.

Flying and imaging in Allington

Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Take an older house close to St. Nicholas' Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. With Stoneacre about 4.2 miles south-east, the area around Allington has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. For businesses in and around places such as Fremlin Walk, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.

What we do, step by step

We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. Most surveys take an hour or two for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Allington, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Mention any side of the property we can’t get to. The loft, where there is safe access, completes the picture.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Before the survey

  • For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Arrange a survey

Advice

What we look for on each type of roof

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It’s almost impossible to see from the ground, but a drone shows it clearly.

Before and after the survey

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:

  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.
