Independent drone roof surveys in Branstone

How a drone roof survey works in Branstone

We carry out drone roof surveys in Branstone and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. We’re often asked to look into damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings, across tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.

Villages like Branstone frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

How the survey works

We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there’s safe access. All told, expect about one to two hours at a typical home, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Somewhere as small as Branstone, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in

Practical tips

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight

We email the report to you, with close-up photos from the flight. Findings are set out in plain English, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, especially in autumn. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.

Roof by roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate typically means nail fatigue. We can see the extent of it from above.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.

What you can safely check yourself

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Branstone questions

Is Branstone within the area you cover?

Yes, Branstone is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

Are there drone restrictions around Branstone?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Sandown Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when booking.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

How do I book a survey in Branstone?

It is easiest to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Let us know the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll point you to the right survey. Surveys run seven days a week.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.

What if it rains on the day?

Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Survey packages start from £150, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • How big the roof is
  • Height and safe access

We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Booking your survey

A little information up front helps. It helps to include:

  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • What made you get in touch
  • Anything about access we should know
  • The kind of building and roof involved

A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You will have a price before anything is arranged.

Drone roof surveys in Branstone: local notes

Branstone is within about 3 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Branstone is about 3 miles from Sandown Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly.

With Haseley Manor about 1.2 miles north-west, the area around Branstone has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Newchurch Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near All Saints' Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Why get it checked now?

From ground level, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photos. It is far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Older and listed buildings around Branstone may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
