Drone roof surveys in Brook

The survey, step by step

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey usually takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Cottages and farmhouses around Brook frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Brook

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. If you are worried about worn lead at chimneys and walls and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

In a small place like Brook, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Roof area
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can be seen safely and which survey you book.

What we need to know

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. Just tell us:

  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date

To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.

Drone roof surveys around Brook

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you look after a building such as Brook Community Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Shop and office owners around County Square may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Brook questions

Will you come out to Brook?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Is my home in Brook listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?

No. A drone shows the outside surfaces of the roof in close detail, but it cannot see under the coverings. We look in the loft from inside where it is safe.

Are you insured?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.

What happens after the survey?

You receive the written report by email, with photos and recommendations. It’s yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

Will the drone film my neighbours?

We take care around neighbouring homes. The camera is pointed at your roof, not next door. Letting neighbours know ahead of time helps.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

Strong wind or heavy rain stops a flight. The weather on the day decides whether the drone goes up. If we cannot fly, we’ll arrange another day or inspect by other means.

Practical tips

Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:

  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Make sure the loft can be reached
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photographs and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, so small faults are dealt with early.

When you need someone else

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.
