Drone roof survey in Burroughs Grove: what you get
Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or isn’t safe, like old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We survey tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and blocked valleys and parapet gutters.
In a small place like Burroughs Grove, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What a survey costs
Not every roof costs the same to survey, for these reasons:
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.

Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Hidden gutters and valleys sit out of sight. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.
Questions from Burroughs Grove
How do I find out if my home in Burroughs Grove is listed?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Is drone flying allowed in Burroughs Grove?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Burroughs Grove is about 3 miles from Wycombe Air Park, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is Burroughs Grove in your area?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes Burroughs Grove.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only when it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
What’s in the survey report?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photographs throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.
What happens next?
You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
Are you insured?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.
Drone roof surveys in Burroughs Grove: local notes
Burroughs Grove is about 3 miles from Wycombe Air Park, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
For businesses in and around places such as Eden, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. Take a building like Burford School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Harleyford Manor, about 3.3 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Burroughs Grove. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
Burroughs Grove is about 1 mile north of Marlow, in Buckinghamshire. In Burroughs Grove, as across Buckinghamshire, every roof gets the same careful survey. Burroughs Grove is one of the places in Buckinghamshire we cover for drone roof surveys. You can also see our page for Reading.
Surveys in SL7 are booked the same way as anywhere else. Streets in the area include Pump Lane North and Wycombe Road, and we cover them all. Nearby, we also carry out drone roof surveys in Marlow Bottom (1 mile west), Little Marlow (1 mile south-east), Marlow (1 mile south), Fern (2 miles east) and Coldmoorholme (2 miles south-east). We also work in nearby towns such as High Wycombe (3 miles north), Chesham (10 miles north-east), Amersham (9 miles north-east), Beaconsfield (5 miles east), Chalfont St Peter (9 miles east) and Southcourt (15 miles north).

Checking the roof from the ground
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Tips from our surveys
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. A few suggestions:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
Your report arrives by email, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Findings are set out in plain English, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.
Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
How it works
We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey typically takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a small place like Burroughs Grove, access is usually the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Getting ready for the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Find any records of previous roof work

Advice
Honest limits
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
