Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Marlow Bottom

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We’re frequently asked to look into flashings that have come away and debris building up in hidden gutters, across chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and tall and steep roofs.

Some older homes in villages like Marlow Bottom are listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

For landlords and managing agents

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Can I check my roof myself?

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

Why it is worth a survey now in Marlow Bottom

Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. For an older or listed building in a place like Marlow Bottom, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

Flying and imaging in Marlow Bottom

Wycombe Air Park is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If you run a business near Eden, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from above or with a thermal imager. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near St Mary the Virgin, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

Marlow Bottom questions

Do you cover smaller places like Marlow Bottom?

Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is my home in Marlow Bottom listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

How long does the visit take?

Allow about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. We’ll confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.

Does the drone show the underside of the roof?

No. A drone shows the outside surfaces of the roof in close detail, but it cannot see under the coverings. We look in the loft from inside where it’s safe.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Marlow Bottom?

The quickest way is to phone 07833 053749 or email us. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.

Different roofs, different checks

Ridges and hips

Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Spotting them early stops them falling.

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Common roof problems in Marlow Bottom

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Ridge and hip pieces working loose
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs

Historic houses like Harleyford Manor, about 2.8 miles south-west, show how far back building around Marlow Bottom goes. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • Which limits apply to the survey
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Whether the price includes VAT

What to expect from a roof survey

How the survey works

Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey typically takes an hour or two at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Somewhere like Marlow Bottom needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect what can be seen safely, inside and out.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
