Drone roof survey in Bushey

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or isn’t safe, like old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. If a drone isn’t the right tool, we will say so. If you are worried about ponding and splits on a high flat roof and vegetation in valleys and gutters, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs alike.

Around a town like Bushey, steep roofs, tall gables and rear slopes are often hidden from ground level. A drone can take close-up photos of them, and thermal imaging can show patterns of heat loss or trapped moisture. Each needs the right weather. Rear slopes over back additions are a common example, as they’re rarely visible from the street.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

When you need someone else

This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

Flying and imaging in Bushey

Elstree Aerodrome is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

With Headstone Manor about 3.5 miles south, the area around Bushey has a long history. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. Take a building like Little Reddings Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Congregational Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Bushey

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.

Roof by roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. We record what we find with photos.

FAQs for Bushey

Is Bushey in the area you cover?

Yes, Bushey is within the area we cover. We cover the whole of London and South East England. You can ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and some details, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.

Are there drone restrictions around Bushey?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Elstree Aerodrome is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Do I need to be at home?

Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

How much is a survey?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking. To get a price, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.

What do I do with the report?

You receive the written report by email, with photographs and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

What insurance do you have?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.

Tips that help

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:

  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year.

Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.

What you can safely check yourself

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

What we do, step by step

When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we check everything we can see safely. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. For a visit in Bushey, we need access to the loft, any rooms with leaks or stains, and the outside of the building. Mention gates, side passages and anything at the back. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Keep pets in another room
