Drone Roof Survey in Caring
Drone roof surveys in Caring, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. You get a clear report with photographs.
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
Tips that help
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
Drone roof survey in Caring
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or is not safe. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We will tell you if another approach would work better. If you’ve noticed tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and hidden gutters full of leaves, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
Somewhere as small as Caring, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

FAQs for Caring
How do I find out if my home in Caring is listed?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Will you come out to Caring?
Yes, Caring is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
What happens next?
The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
How long does the visit take?
It normally takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. That includes the checks before the drone goes up.
Are there drone restrictions in central London?
Some areas need permission from NATS before any flight. If permission isn’t possible, we inspect by other means.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
What will the report tell me?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, backed by photos. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
Why get it checked now?
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

How it works
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It normally takes about one to two hours for most houses, or half a day or so for a commercial building. For a village or hamlet like Caring, the journey is planned beforehand: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
How to prepare
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Keep pets in another room
- Let us know about parking before the day
How to book
Booking is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us some details about the property and we’ll recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

When you need someone else
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.
Roofs we survey in Caring
- Chimney stacks
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
Do you need a drone roof survey in Caring?
Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are frequently invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.
Look out for signs like these:
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Lifted or split lead flashings
The streets around a church like St Nicholas's Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.
What to check before booking
- Whether the price includes VAT
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Will the report include photos?
- What happens after the report arrives
Can I check my roof myself?
It is useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Drone roof surveys in Caring: local notes
Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
With Stoneacre about 0.7 miles south-west, the area around Caring has a long history. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
