About our drone roof survey in Weavering
We carry out drone roof surveys in Weavering and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We’re often asked to look into loose ridge and hip tiles and worn lead at chimneys and walls, on tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks.
Places like Weavering can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
When you need someone else
Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Weavering questions
Do you cover smaller places like Weavering?
Yes, Weavering is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Are there drone restrictions around Weavering?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Does the report include photos?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Weavering?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, including VAT.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is frequently shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when you book.
What we do, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. A visit to a smaller place like Weavering is no different on the day: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. It is useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Advice
Do you need a drone roof survey in Weavering?
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until it causes a leak inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
Historic houses such as Stoneacre, about 1.7 miles south-east, show how far back building around Weavering goes. For older roofs nearby, a look by drone or thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.
What to check before booking
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- What exactly goes into their report
- Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one
- Their report turnaround times

What a drone roof survey looks like in Weavering
Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Kent’s older buildings take in oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses as well. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
Take an older house close to Holy Cross Church: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Mall Maidstone, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most.
