About our drone roof survey in Clayhill

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’ve noticed wind damage high on the roof and moss building up on slopes and in gutters, we can find out what’s behind it, on large and complex roofs, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks alike.

Somewhere as small as Clayhill, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Clayhill

We survey roofs for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. A written report with photos gives you a clear record of the roof, which helps you plan work between tenancies.

With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the addresses.

How the survey changes by roof type

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.

Large commercial roofs

Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the roof area by area, so nothing is skipped.

What this survey can’t tell you

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Why get it checked now?

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect. Around Clayhill, older homes frequently have old roof timbers, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we will tell you which fits.

Common roof problems in Clayhill

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Older slates and tiles break easily, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Lifted or split lead flashings
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles

Historic houses such as West Wycombe Park House, about 2.3 miles north, show how far back building around Clayhill goes. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What they won’t be able to tell you
  • Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
  • Are they insured for the work?
  • What experience they bring

Clayhill questions

Do you cover smaller places like Clayhill?

Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Clayhill?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and don’t carry out calculations. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

Do I need to be at home?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you when booking.

What we do, step by step

We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. All told, expect about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Cottages and farmhouses around Clayhill often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Let us know about parking near the property

Advice

Drone roof surveys around Clayhill

Wycombe Air Park is about 1 mile away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. A number of Buckinghamshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

If you live in an older home near Church of Christ the Servant King, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Anyone responsible for a site like Cressex Community School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
