Independent drone roof surveys in Wycombe Marsh

Drone roof survey in Wycombe Marsh: what you get

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and moss and weeds taking hold up top.

Older buildings in small places like Wycombe Marsh may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Survey packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Which survey package you book
  • Building height and the viewpoints available

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. You’ll know the figure before booking.

What to tell us when you contact us

A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, it is useful to mention:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window

Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We’ll suggest a package, agree the price and find a date, weekday or weekend.

Roof by roof

Ridges and hips

The ridge takes wind from both sides. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

Wycombe Marsh questions

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Wycombe Marsh?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is Wycombe Marsh within the area you cover?

Yes, Wycombe Marsh is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

Are you structural engineers?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs such as sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.

How long does the survey take?

Expect it to take about 1–2 hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Will I get photos?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found.

What do I do with the report?

The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.

Before and after the survey

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:

  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Book early if you are near an airport

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

What we cannot see

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.

What we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book.

Flying and imaging in Wycombe Marsh

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Anne, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. With Hughenden Manor about 2.8 miles north-west, the area around Wycombe Marsh has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Marsh School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What we do, step by step

Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Around Wycombe Marsh, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
