Drone Roof Survey in Clifton Hampden
Know where you stand with the roof before you spend money on it. We carry out drone roof surveys in Clifton Hampden.
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
What happens if roof problems are left?
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Clifton Hampden, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the price for your survey before you book.

About our drone roof survey in Clifton Hampden
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a written report with photos. It is also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. If you’ve noticed vegetation in valleys and gutters and lead work pulling away at abutments, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Older buildings in small places like Clifton Hampden may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Flying and imaging in Clifton Hampden
Cotswold stone slates are found on older buildings in west Oxfordshire, and thatch survives in some of the county’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Historic houses like Clifton Hampden Manor, about 0.1 miles east, show how far back building in the area around Clifton Hampden goes. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof.
Take a building like Clifton Hampden Church of England Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Before and after the survey
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
- Check the loft can be reached
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.
Questions from Clifton Hampden
How do I find out if my home in Clifton Hampden is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Will you come out to Clifton Hampden?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.
Does the weather affect a drone survey?
We do not fly in high wind or heavy rain. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If we can’t fly, we will arrange another day or inspect by other means.
Are there drone restrictions in central London?
Central London has restricted areas where NATS permission is needed. If permission isn’t possible, we inspect by other means and explain what we could see.
Does someone need to be in?
Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.
When does the report arrive?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.
How the survey works
We check the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. The whole visit normally takes about 1–2 hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Somewhere as small as Clifton Hampden, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

What we are asked to look at in Clifton Hampden
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
The streets around a church such as Church of St Michael and All Angels are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Choosing a roof surveyor

- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
