Drone roof survey in Cookham: what you get

We carry out drone roof surveys in Cookham and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. We survey chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs, and people most often book us about blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and moss and weeds taking hold up top.

Older cottages and houses around Cookham may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

It is not only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

For landlords and managing agents

Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.

Landlords and agents in Cookham book surveys as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photographs, useful for planning maintenance.

Checking the roof from the ground

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Drone roof surveys around Cookham

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Cliveden, about 1.7 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Cookham. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.

Take a building like Cookham Rise Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Take an older house close to Church of St John the Baptist: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

How it works

You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll take it from there. The survey itself takes about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Parking around Cookham is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where applicable.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Cookham questions

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Cookham?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is my home in Cookham listed or in a conservation area?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Does someone need to be in?

Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

Does the report include photographs?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.

How many surveys have you done?

We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.

What happens next?

The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

What will the report tell me?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photographs. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

Before and after the survey

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:

  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed

There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.

What we cannot see

Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs

Leave it or get it looked at?

A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. With lower homes, common in places like Cookham, there’s little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Finding the cause first saves a second job inside.

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
