Drone roof survey in North Ascot, Windsor and Maidenhead
Know where you stand with the roof before you decide what to do next. Drone roof surveys in North Ascot, with photos and a clear written report.
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
Why get it checked now?
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. On a bungalow or cottage around North Ascot, the roof sits close to the rooms below, so a small leak can mark a ceiling within a few storms. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in North Ascot
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. Typical surveys look at coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and standing water on a flat roof, across chimney stacks, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs.
Older cottages and houses around North Ascot may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

What a drone roof survey looks like in North Ascot
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. About 3.9 miles north-east lies St Leonard's Hill, a reminder of how long the area around North Ascot has been built on. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If you look after a building such as Ascot Heath Church of England Junior School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Chapel of St Mary and St John, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Before and after the survey
There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Let us know the exact address as you book
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.
Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it is something only an inside check will show. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.
What affects the price in North Ascot
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Roof area
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

When to book a survey in North Ascot
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.
We’re frequently asked to look at:
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Lexicon, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from above or with a thermal imager.

Questions from North Ascot
Is drone flying allowed in North Ascot?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in North Ascot?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

A written report with photographs, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, with the most urgent first where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show.

What we do, step by step
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Homes around North Ascot often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Mention any side of the property we cannot get to. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Advice
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
