Drone roof survey in Coopersale

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are moss and weeds taking hold up top and chimney tops in poor condition.

In a small place like Coopersale, open ground can mean strong wind. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Coopersale

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Coopersale?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Are there drone restrictions around Coopersale?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Coopersale is about 2 miles from North Weald Airfield, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Coopersale?

To book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and agree a day with you.

Will I get photos?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.

What insurance do you have?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.

Why it is worth a survey now in Coopersale

It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area. You can tackle the urgent items first. In a place like Coopersale, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What we are asked to look at in Coopersale

After storms, owners want to know what has moved. It’s hard to tell from below what has shifted. A drone shows what has slipped, lifted or gone.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone

With Hill Hall about 2.2 miles south, the area around Coopersale has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Will the report include photos?
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Their insurance cover

What a roof survey includes

Drones, thermal imaging and Coopersale roofs

North Weald Airfield is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Weatherboarded walls and clay tile roofs are typical of older Essex buildings, while many towns grew with post-war and newer estates. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

For site and facilities teams at buildings like St John's Church of England Voluntary Controlled School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. For an older house near a landmark such as Saint Alban's Church, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Coopersale is about 5 miles south of Harlow, in Essex. Coopersale gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful look at what can be seen safely, photographs and a clear written report. Coopersale is one of the places in Essex we cover for drone roof surveys. Chelmsford is in our area too.

Postcode districts we cover here for drone roof surveys: CM16. If you need a drone roof survey at a property on Institute Road, St Alban's Road and Laburnum Road or a nearby road, we can survey it. Other places close to Coopersale include Thornwood Common (1 mile north), North Weald Bassett (2 miles north-east), Hastingwood (3 miles north), Bush Fair (4 miles north) and Foster Street (4 miles north). Within a short drive, we also cover Chelmsford (15 miles east), Harlow (5 miles north), Brentwood (9 miles south-east), Billericay (13 miles south-east), Loughton (5 miles south-west) and Waltham Abbey (5 miles west).

Tips from our surveys

Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:

  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Make sure the loft can be reached
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.

Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.

Honest limits

A survey is a close look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:

  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs

What happens on the day

Every roof is different; as a rough guide, the survey takes between one and two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. You are welcome to ask questions while we’re there. Older roofs in small places like Coopersale can have low, tight loft spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

DIY checks: what’s safe

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
