Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Foster Street
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or is not safe, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We will tell you if another approach would work better. If you are worried about flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and moss building up on slopes and in gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Villages like Foster Street often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
It isn’t only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone

- The size of the roof
Every price we give includes VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for the job before booking.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:
- Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.
What we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
Can I check my roof myself?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
Questions from Foster Street
How do I find out if my home in Foster Street is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do you cover smaller places like Foster Street?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
What’s in the survey report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.
Are you registered with the CAA?
Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
How do I book a survey in Foster Street?
It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we’ll recommend the right survey. Surveys run on any day of the week.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when you book.
Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Hidden gutters and valleys sit out of sight. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.
What we do, step by step
Photos are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take between one and two hours on an ordinary house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Somewhere as small as Foster Street, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Advice
Landlords, agents and block managers in Foster Street
Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the survey around it.
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, with the most urgent items set out first.
Drone roof surveys around Foster Street
North Weald Airfield is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Weatherboarded walls and clay tile roofs are typical of older Essex buildings, with post-war and more recent estates making up much of the newer housing. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of All Saints, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Henry Moore Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.
