Drone roof survey in Creeksea
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. If you are worried about storm damage on steep or tall roofs and outlets choked with leaves and silt, we can find out what’s behind it, on chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs alike.
In a small place like Creeksea, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Creeksea questions
Are there drone restrictions around Creeksea?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Do you cover smaller places like Creeksea?
Yes, Creeksea is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when booking.
How long is the visit?
It normally takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. The report follows by email.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
What happens after the survey?
The report comes by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
What this survey can’t tell you
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
Do you need a drone roof survey in Creeksea?
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
Look out for signs like these:
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
Hotels and guest houses near Creeksea cannot easily close rooms for a leak.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
Tips from our surveys
Small things make a difference. Some pointers:
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later.
Every so frequently, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
The survey, step by step
Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Creeksea needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, inside and out.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors

Related advice
Leave it or get it looked at?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. For an older or listed building in a place like Creeksea, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.
Why us?
- Independent findings on the roof’s condition
- 20+ years’ experience
- Drone and thermal imaging surveys available

Flying and imaging in Creeksea
Creeksea lies within about 5 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. There are about 500,000 buildings on England’s list of listed buildings, and around 10,000 conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, so the council is the place to ask.
Anyone responsible for a site like Ormiston Rivers Academy will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. The streets around a church such as Church of All Saints are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
