Drone Roof Survey in Fairwarp
An experienced roof surveyor for drone roof surveys in Fairwarp. Over 5,000 surveys and 20+ years behind us across London and South East England.
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
What we look for on each type of roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Leaks frequently start at outlets, edges and around plant. They’re all captured in close-up.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them, so the survey does not add damage.
Drone roof survey in Fairwarp: what you get
Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, like old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We will tell you if another approach would work better. If you’ve noticed slipped or missing slates on a high roof and loose ridge and hip tiles, we can find out what’s behind it, on large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs alike.
Villages like Fairwarp often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

The survey, step by step
When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen, from ground level, from windows, in the roof space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Cottages and farmhouses around Fairwarp often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Let us know about parking near the property
Book a survey
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email when you’re ready.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
We only report what can be seen safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll recommend the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Drone roof surveys in Fairwarp: local notes
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.
The streets around a church such as St John the Evangelist Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. In and around Fairwarp, as anywhere, a roof is easiest to deal with when its problems are found early.

Fairwarp questions
Will you come out to Fairwarp?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Is drone flying allowed in Fairwarp?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
How long does the survey take?
Time on site depends on the roof; most visits take about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. The report is sent afterwards by email.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Fairwarp?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, if the freeholder or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of clients are satisfied.

DIY checks: what’s safe
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- The roof’s overall size
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Booking your survey
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- The property’s address and postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
