Drone roof surveys for Gill's Green homes and businesses

About our drone roof survey in Gill's Green

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. The photos go into a written report. It is also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. If you’ve noticed flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and debris building up in hidden gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

In a small place like Gill's Green, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

What happens if roof problems are left?

Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. You get photos of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Gill's Green, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You will know the price for your roof before booking.

Why us?

  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Every finding written up with photos

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • The roof’s overall size

What we need to know

Some details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, tell us:

  • Anything about access we should know
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Gill's Green

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.

It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
  • Standing water on a flat roof

Take a building like Marlborough House School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What to check before booking

  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • What insurance they carry
  • What experience they bring
  • Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one

What a roof survey includes

Landlords, agents and block managers in Gill's Green

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, with the most urgent items set out first.

How it works

You do not need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Around Gill's Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Make sure we can get to the back of the property
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent

Advice

DIY checks: what’s safe

A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Questions from Gill's Green

Is my home in Gill's Green listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Gill's Green?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Do you need to get into the loft?

Typically, if there’s one and it can be reached safely. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, if the freeholder or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.

Does the report include photos?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Gill's Green?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking, based on the roof’s size, access and package. For a price, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
