Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Glassenbury
Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. If you’re worried about standing water on a flat roof and ridge pieces that have lifted, we can find out what’s behind it, on valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs alike.
Villages like Glassenbury frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Honest limits
Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.
What we look at
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Large and complex roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Chimney stacks
What a survey costs
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- House, block, shop or office
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- The roof’s overall size
Every price we give includes VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking.
Getting in touch
Before you get in touch, it’s useful to have:
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- The property’s address and postcode
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.
Glassenbury: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Glassenbury is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Are there drone restrictions around Glassenbury?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In strong wind or heavy rain, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Someone needs to let us in if we’re looking inside or in the loft. We’ll talk about access as you book.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days when booking.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We look at everything that can safely be seen: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
How much is a survey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all with VAT included.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Glassenbury
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
With Scotney Castle about 4 miles west, the area around Glassenbury has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as High Weald Academy, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
What we do, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a hamlet or village like Glassenbury, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Check we can get to the back of the property
Book a survey
If you’re buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or send us an email whenever suits you.
Advice
Before and after the survey
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.
Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
