Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hannington
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are loose ridge and hip tiles and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, on large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and chimney stacks.
In a village or hamlet like Hannington, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

What a survey costs
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- The size of the roof
Every price we give includes VAT. Prices start from £400, including VAT. You will know the exact price before you book.

What else we do in Hannington
What happens on the day
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. It normally takes between one and two hours at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Around Hannington, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Keep pets in another room
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent

Advice
What we cannot see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A structural engineer’s report
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
Can I check my roof myself?
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Why get it checked now?
Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. For older village homes like those around Hannington, the right replacement materials are not always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both inc. VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book.

Different roofs, different checks
Ridges and hips
Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. We record what we see of their condition.
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check.
Drone roof surveys around Hannington
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.
Around Hannington, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in. Take an older house close to Church of All Saints: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Hannington
Is my home in Hannington listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you cover smaller places like Hannington?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?
Not as part of the drone survey, which is about close-up photos. For thermal imaging, look at the Premium Survey or our thermal roof survey, and its findings are checked with moisture readings.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where it applies, a drone.
Will you photograph next door’s garden?
We keep the camera on the roof we’re surveying, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We only survey what the owner has asked us to. If your roof is shared, it is useful to tell your neighbours about the visit.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
