How a roof survey works in RG26
Our roof survey gives you a clear picture of your roof’s condition. Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, along with the loft where it is safe to get in. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations. Where it’s relevant, the recommendations are prioritised by urgency. We survey the roof space, natural slate and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs and debris building up in roof valleys.
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely. Most surveys take an hour or two at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours.
- You let us know the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- Outside, we inspect from the ground, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
- We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
- You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.
Prices in RG26

Homes and roofs across RG26
Owners across RG26, from Tadley, Rooksdown and Bramley to the villages, book us to find out where their roof stands. Small faults, caught early, are far easier to deal with.
Our area covers London and South East England, including RG26. Housing here runs from Victorian and Edwardian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates.
Tadley: If you own a rental within reach of Midgham station, a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let. The streets around a church like Saint Mary's Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, the nails, lead and mortar on the roof may be wearing out even where the slates or tiles look fine.
What a survey does not cover
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A structural engineer’s report
- Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
- Asbestos testing of any kind
Can I check my roof myself?
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
What affects the cost of roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Helping us price your survey
There’s no need for technical words. It’s enough to tell us:
- Anything about access we should know
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- What made you get in touch
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
Not sure which survey you need? It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or email us and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will talk you through the options and what they cost.
Landlord and commercial surveys in RG26
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in RG26. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Landlords and letting agents in RG26 book surveys as well as homeowners. A photo-illustrated written report gives you a clear record of the roof, which helps you plan work between tenancies.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Roof faults rarely stay the same size. One slipped slate lets water reach the battens and underlay, and wet timber starts to decay. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
What to check before booking
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- When you’ll get the report
Questions from RG26
Can you look at a roof that is joined to next door?
Yes, we inspect your part of the roof. Next door’s roof is only inspected as far as we can see it. Shared stacks and upstands are looked at from your property.
What does a roof survey include?
We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, plus the roof space where there is safe access. You get a written report with photos and recommendations.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
How soon is the report ready?
The Premium Survey has a same-day report, Standard 24 to 48 hours and Basic within 48 hours. Photos are included.
Do you inspect the roof from on top?
Only when it is safe. Many roofs can be seen well from windows, vantage points and the loft, and Premium includes a drone where applicable.
Do you look in the loft space?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
Do you carry out asbestos surveys?
No. Asbestos testing isn’t part of our service. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on older buildings, we flag them and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
