Drone roof survey in Harbridge: what you get
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. We are often asked to look into ridge and hip pieces working loose and worn lead at chimneys and walls, on flat roofs on upper floors, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.
In a village or hamlet like Harbridge, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Harbridge questions
Is Harbridge within the area you cover?
Yes. Harbridge is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Harbridge?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We will rearrange with you if the weather is not right.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Harbridge?
The quickest way is to ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report.
Honest limits
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
How we price drone roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Height and safe access
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.
Helping us price your survey
There’s no need for technical words. It’s enough to tell us:
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
Unsure which package suits your roof? It is easiest to ring 07833 053749 or email us and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We’ll talk you through the options and what they cost.
Can I check my roof myself?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry.
Drones, thermal imaging and Harbridge roofs
If your home is older, it’s worth knowing whether it is listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area. A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
Whatever the street in Harbridge, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early. If you live in an older home near Church of All Saints, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Practical tips
Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:
- Let us know the exact address as you book
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
We email the report to you, with close-up photos from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

The survey, step by step
After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a written report with photos. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Older rural homes like those around Harbridge can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
Getting a price
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Why get it checked now?
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photos, slope by slope. It’s far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Around Harbridge, older homes frequently have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, with VAT included, and we will tell you which fits.
